Gee, I hope it didn't dry like it is shown in the second glue up photo . Looks like the joint has slipped a little? Regardless this is how you refine your technique, which over time will get faster and faster.
Cheers,

oh i know this....
but each half of the body only just squeezed onto the wood :P so there was really no offcuts except the inner horns and waist
oh my technique changes every time i get a new bloddy tool.... hahaha
as for why it is off centred,
well you know im a fret access junky....
when i made the template, i wasnt completely happy with the fret access...
and now that i have a bandsaw i can cut things alot more accurately,
(so instead of my old method of cutting the body with a jigsaw then using a template to rout the edges smooth, i just cut it with the bandsaw and sand it now)
anyways, so i wasnt happy with the fret access (i try to keep every single fret easily accessable on my guitars....
so i moved the treble side down about 5mm, and now i have 5mm of extra fret access
i will just trim the bottom and the heel on the bandsaw to match up when its dry
simple really...

Hey you could almost make a chapman stick wit that neck!! Man id love one of them..If only i had a spare $8000 lol..
Shape looks really good.. I like ur fret access..Im the same..THe one thing I dont like about my red ibanez is the heel..Its really blocky and doesnt allow great access...THe finish is wearing and chipping now so i was thinking of refinishing it so I could always change the heel i guess..
You can rip some neck blanks for me on ur big flysex bandsaw mate!!
I assenbled the 7 yday too!! I screwed the nut but..Its too low and the slots are too deep lol..stupid me..Ill make a new one next week..Sounds really really good and plays pretty nice too..
sorry for hijacking HAHAHAHA

yay christmas time
time for my presents, from me, to me
im thinking this will fit well in my workshop
Carba-Tec 12" Economy Disc Sander : CARBA-TEC
and a 2x3 drum
Sanding Drums - Individual Sizes : CARBA-TEC
and a magnifyng headset which is in the catologue but not on their site
yep i think thats what i would like to purchase,
i wouldnt mind a thicknesser, but i cant afford that untill i sell my motorbike
time to read up on this sander...
will have to try and haggle and get some free sanding discs with it

They look good man.. Im gonna buy the sanding drums for my drill press soon too.. And ive been lookin at a disc sander too in a local tool shop..not a great brand but it will do the job..I think its disc and belt for $150 i think..Im too broke at the moment but..Gotta buy a new camera for hawaii!
Hows the progress on the set neck?

i think i can get away with just the one sanding drum,
and the disc sander, in my mind, is a good addition to the workshop next to the bandsaw.... will def help get all those small blade marks off everything i cut up,
wll also let me flush up fingerboards and neck tapers faster
i wouldnt mind a disc/belt combo, but untill i extend, i dont have enouh room,
the buuild is still a neck and body blank, i have been busy, grandparents have gone overseas, spent yesterday doing a bit f cleaning up over there..
carbatec is a-calling
off i go
