Makore Set Neck
i bought a bit of makore a while back because... well i dont know why really... lol
and well, i want to see how it goes for a neck,
iread Stu used it for a neck, bt i dont know if that was a whole neck or laminates....
its a nnice wood... nice graiin.. nice colour...
and well im bored and need to mke some jigs... so i thought i would cut up the makore and make a guitar...
number of strings is yet to be decided,
probably wont do much untill after xmas anyway, if thats the cse i will probably be a 7 or 8
anyways, after a bit of thought i figured out how i could get two necks out of the one bit... lol
one piece, scarfed headstock
R3R sent me some sweet truss rods, and i like them alot,
i think i will use them from now on,
cheers
headstock angle jig that i threw together with various offcuts lol

Looking good!
I've got the same router as you, does the bar thing you attach the straight edge to stick out below the bottom of the base? Mine does, stupid thing, its pretty much useless.

its sexy
hey dude,
iv modified mine a lil,
i took off the original yellow bottom of the base and threw it away,
made up a larger perpex base (as you can see in the pics) and screwed it on,
it just makes doing pup and cavity routs an easier process, dont have to worry about it falling in the hole haha....
as you can see iv dne a bit of chopping and changing in regards to th bolts/screws that hold the straight edge on....
also the angled L shaped bit that bolts directly to the router, i grabbed a round file of appropriate size and deepened the slot so i would let me clear the new base
i could take some more detailed pics if you want...?

Cool looking stuff there andy.
You gonna put a strip down the guts of the body? is that whats going on there?
Why does R3R even have truss rods? he doesnt use them? i guess thats why you've got em then!

i am on the fence about this,
i set my bandsaw up last week and resawed a whole lot of wood...
some maple... some of my silky oak offcuts... some other stuff i had laying around...
so we will see how i feel..
or if i can find a bit of maple that matches the fingerboard...
i reckon that could be cool...
hahahaha his last few builds havnt featured truss rods... but you never know... hes a sneeky one

Classic pic of the flies enjoying their honeymoon. Wise of you not to post the "after" pic of the flies after you whacked them with your fretting hammer.
Re bandsawing the headstock scarf joint. Did you have to do much final work on the joint surfaces with a plane?
Cheers MartinWhatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

hahahahahaha
naaa no names, its better that way
fly jizz on my bandsaw
well i did two, which meant i could use the first blank to tune up the jig,
so obviously that first one needed a bit of work with the plane,
but the second one (in the pics) came out bloody brilliant,
barely any prep work
put a spring down the middle for some sweet reverb

decided on no strip,
(i could inlay a strip down the back... that could be interesting.. lol)
i glued it up a few hours ago
what a pain it is to glue up when its not square lol
its lighter than i was expecting
need to find some big enough for one piece bodies
