Default Old Maton Sun-Burst - need help

Hi all, I have an old (1940's) Maton Archtop F-hole Electric Acoustic six string which had a 2.5m fall from a shelf onto a sandstone hearth. (Don't ask!) Luckily it landed on its bottom edge. The only real damage was a hole about the size of a fifty cent piece on the bottom facing edge about level with the bridge. I know this will be sacrilege to the Luthiers out there but as I don't have the gear to take the top off and do a proper repair I just put masking tape on the edge of the bottom side and poured epoxy into the hole. I've sanded the epoxy patch smooth so as to get the shape right. In doing so I had to take off the original finish to the ply top and side. I don't know what to use to get the matching colour of the original finish. Its what they used to call sun-burst I think. Tobacco brown is the colour, I think, going to a pale gold/yellow colour in the centre.
    Any ideas please.
    Cheers
    Sheddie
