    Default Myrtle Burl Carvetop

    Hello everyone,
Just thought I would share the progress of my latest build (number 4 so far).

    Here are the specs:

    Woods:
Body - Blackwood (Swiss cheesed for weight reduction)
    Top - Tasmanian Myrtle Burl
    Neck - Blackwood
    FBoard - Ebony
Binding - Ebony with red purfling on neck and red/black purfling on top
Headplate - Ebony on top Koa w/ black veneer on bottom (closest I could get to Blackwood without having to order only one item from an Australian supplier.

    Hardware:
    Tuners - Gotoh 510
Bridge - Unsure, maybe Hannes (look interesting, anyone used them?) or Roller TOM
Pickups - Mick Brierly handwound humbuckers, lower output with excellent clarity)

I am still considering (the thought is getting slimmer every day) to do an ebony bridge/tailpiece, your opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    On to the pics

    Looking good so far.
I reckon the hannes looks good on guitars like the jackson soloist or any other super strat but not so good on a carve top. Gotoh 510 is a good choice for tuners, why not go with a gotoh 510 TOM bridge.

    Default Myrtle Burl carve top[

    looking good Dylan,
The quilt in the myrtle top is beautiful not as much burl as your last one but makes up for it with the wild figure' if you just want a plain blackwood for your headplate let me know as I will send you one free of charge.

    Cheers Bob
