    Default Neck Finish

    hye im shahrul from malaysian...u shared a good stuff...sorry if i post to a wrong thread....can someone give me a tips how to refinishing one piece maple neck...i have a squier strat neck with polyester finish...dont like the feel..n need to change the fret also...is it the correct step 1)remove fret 2)sand 3)apply nc lacquer 4)install fret...can someone give me a tips

    As a first step you can try rubbing the neck down with 0000 steel wool - it can greatly improve the feel without needing to refinish. A maple neck is tricky because you need to strip the original finish from between the frets, and either mask the frets before refinishing, or scrape them afterward. Unless you want to do a complete refret as well, in which case you just pull them out before stripping the neck.
