    Has anybody used celery top pine for a Fender style neck ?

    I have not heard of it being used or any other pine for that application. My gut feeling is it would be too lightweight and bow from the string tension. Even on the cigar box 3 and 4 string thingies I make I would not use any pine as a neck. That said these days all kinds of boundaries are being tested so perhaps someone may have done it.

    I have seen 1/4 sawn CTP used on acoustics necks. You can always stiffen the neck adding in a timber stringer or internal carbon fibre rods if concerned.
