Tele's are great, just look at the early Zep albums where the guitar was pretty much all tele. Page preferred it for all the early studio work, and when the time came to knock out the most popular solo of all time, i.e. stairway, he went straight back to the tele for it. Have to say though, teles are still only my second favourite guitar, the 1959 cherry burst Les Paul is still my fav, but I'm pretty sure the tele was an easier build. Next one will be my own design though. Not sure I'll do anymore copies.
Cheers

Congratulations on a build well done.
A very nice twanger indeed.
So, tell us about the tone characteristics of this one.
How does she play ?
Any chance of loading up some bigger pics for all to see?
( I hate squinting)
cheers, Stu

Tone - I'm not real good at describing but it does have a massive bottom end, but surprised me a bit as the mids and highs are also very good. Neck pickup and karri gives a very mellow but powerful sound. Bridge pickup screams with a bit of overdrive. Still dont know what these pickups are, but they seem excellent so far.
The pots are 250K and the wiring the same as the standard teles. No need for higher pots as the tone is quite high enough turned on full with the bridge pickup, more high end than my epiphone les paul anyway. Overall nicer to play than my epihone as far as sound goes, but I didn't realise how much I'd got used to the Gibson scale length. Need some 9 guage strings for this one so it feels more like the 10's in my other one.
Will work on some pics in the next couple of days.
cheers

The pickups were bought from Fretco in adelaide city. No brand name on them or anything at all on the packaging. Sound pretty good though.

That is a good looking guitar Archer.
If it was me I would have to hook it up see what it sounds like.
I am getting very tempted to have a go at making a guitar.
You fellas seem to be having a lot of fun making them.
Her I am sitting around listening to Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and Santana and you lot are making their instruments.
Where to start?
Congratulations.Scally

Just got all the the bits together to build an ax84 Hi-Octane.
Now I need to teach myself how to build a proper cabinet for the head and a speaker cabinet!Rick
