Now there's someone that is on his game - bet he can skate too. All you hard-core solid-body blokes/ladies can probably do this stuff blind but this acoustic guy needed a refresher so kudos to the Cannuck - good on 'im for adding to the thread...
It has been so long since we strung the guts up in a plug-in piece that we had forgotten about building a Magic Bus to ground to, works well and ya don't risk roasting your pots in the process.
Good show as the Tele Plans arrived in the inbox today (Ta, Seb...)
Here's the cap wood we will probably use:

Hi Riggsy, I reckon your posting this in the wrong thread.

The ground buss is "THE GROUND". It's the star grounding point for everything within the guitar that requires grounding: terminals on the pots that need to be grounded, cavity shields, bridge / string ground, pickup grounds, output jack ground, etc.
Look at any guitar wiring scheme, and where you see a ground symbol on the schematic, this is your ground buss, even though on the schematic they often depict it as a number of individual grounds. If this still doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll draw you an explanatory diagram.

Shielding is important. I use single screened mic cable to do my wiring (with the exception of the pu's). In the U.K. we have an earth on our mains plugs, and I find that sometimes, the ground from the bridge is not necessary and is quieter without. 2 pin electrics are a different story.
