Parlour Guitar
Hi to you all,
This is a Parlour sized guitar I have been working on for a few years and with the advantage of a two week holiday, finally finished it this week. This one is for a mate who wanted a small, fingerstyle guitar. I used the Scott Antes plan as a guide but used parbolic bracing and a standard x brace design. It is a bright sounding guitar with good projection. The guitar has a wide, almost flat fingerboard profile as per the plan which would take a lot of getting used to if it was a regular player for myself.
Western Red Cedar for Shane at High Mountain Tonewood
Back and side: Blackwood from Bob Connor
Fingerboard, bridge, endgraft, binding and headplate : East Indian Rosewood for Shane HM Tonewoods
Rosette: Koa
Shellac, French Polished finish.
Here are a few pics:
Thanks for your attention
Cheers
Alan

Nice looking guitar Alan!!
I particularly like the Headstock as well - although I notice that the 1st and 6th strings look like they are in contact with the wood?
I had a similar problem which I solved by getting the strings to wind to the inside rather than the outside.Mike

Thanks Floody and Wayne for your comments.
Mike: Yes that is a poor design where the strings hit the headstock. Your suggestion would work for sure!
Groundhangers: Thanks for your comments mate but you are going to hate me as over the past week during my school holiday break I have just closed the box on another weissenborn copy and it's blackwood
Cheers

G'day Mike,
I use the MIMF plan as a shape but have come up with my own brace pattern. I use a big mother bridge plate design that stops the issue with the MIMF plan of the bridge rolling forward and causing a sunken chest. I've got heaps of pics if that will help you!
Cheers

G'day Mike,
Here are two links to my PhotoBucket guitar build picture albums.

You will find my bracing designs in there and how I go about building a weissenborn copy. Remember this is my take and not necessarily the best way as there are plenty of other improvements that you could make to improve the stucturial integrity of the early weissenborn guitars designs.
Cheers
