How do you find the active Duncan's in comparison to the passive?
Is myrtle easy to spray? Does it require allot grain filling like Blackwood?

    Yummy, Jarrah tops and fretboards!

Cheers Deano . Jury is still out for me on active's vs passive duncans as I only finished the passives yesterday....at this stage, I'm leaning towards actives.....just a wicked amplified tone!

The myrtle top you see in this thread was NOT grainfilled at all.....3 coats of brushed on blonde shellac, rubbed back with 600 then straight into the nitro.....almost no shrink back with this at all......

Yup, I'm a fan of Jarrah, it's a tough, hard and heavy mean tonewood for mine

Missed this query RG. I am assuming you would use the Vic Ash as a top? I would imagine the Vic Ash to have a significant influence on the tone as the more I experience and learn, the more I believe the top to play a greater role in tone than the body. When you think about it, the strings resonate above the top, not the body, so you would think that this would have a greater influence on tone than the body. Depending on the thckness of the top, the bridge posts may only insert as far as the top also and only the bottom of the pups would would be exposed to the body, although string thru would obviously pickup body influences allbeit minor.....food for thought if nothing else. It would be great to hear Rhoads' and Oz's views on this.....
