Well Oz Tradie and I had a very productive day yesterday making great progress with nitro. A big thanks to OZ for his expertise and fantastic on the spot tutorials. I now have confidence with the spray gun and can't wait to shoot some more coats on
Here's a few pics of what we achieved. Both builds were already shellac sealed, grain filled and rubbed back to 600 grit. We then shot a nice thick shellac sealer coat followed up by 4 coats of nitro. Super weather conditions of 30 odd degrees and humidity at 40 was perfect for finish spraying.

Those guitars are looking fantastic Ethereal. Was that metal series one the one with the ash body? I'd look back in the thread, but I'm still in holiday mode, so feeling a little lazy still.
I had planned to get in contact with you over my holidays, but I was pretty busy and got nothing done as far as luthier work is concerned. Hardly got any time in the shed at all in fact, except for a half day building a bookshelf for the missus.
I think most of my plans of building will be on hold for a few months anyway. Going to Europe for a month in April, and need to save every spare cent.

Hey RG,
The current 3 builds seem to be taking forever....it's actually the finishing process that takes so long....as you can see from the previous pics, they were first coated 29/12!!!!! Well they are now pretty much ready to buff....in the meantime, a third has received half the required coats and I have bult another that will receive first coats tomorrow.....
I must admit, whilst I LOVE the nitro result, I really don't enjoy the process and the time it takes....waiting for right weather etc.....a right pain in the proverbial.....however, I do hope the results will be worth the time and effort.
I will post a new thread in the next couple of weeks with 2 finished builds............sorry but I just haven't had the time to do all the progress shots etc.....too busy guitar building, working, being a family man and making music!!!!!!!
Cheers for the interest

It's all good, as long as you start offering blackwood at reasonable price, all will be forgiven

Alright then. Good to hear.
We are on the right path for you to being forgiven for your lack of awesome progress shots

Mate my arm is hurting from the twist .......ere' we go with a couple of progress shots......
Photography work leaves a bit to be desired! These are on their way.........the "Sustainer" singlecut is my first 24.75" scale build and the "Eventide" double cut is my first tremelo build..........far more professional shots will come along in time........I love the timber in these builds......
Tasmanian Myrtle Top in the first pic and MEDULLARY CITY Blackwood in the second......

looking good, like the look of that singlecut

Thanks guys. I love the singlecut also......it has 24 frets and the best upper fret access I have been able to build, I also like the gentle roundover top.....with a 24.75" scale and a 19mm Blackwood top I am really striving for a warm tone with this one.....Vic Ash body is at 27mm for those interested on the specs.......I plan on slotting some nice chrome covered GFS vintage 59 Alnico buckers, only wound to 8.8k at the bridge and 8.2k at the neck for this build......
What do you guys think about running 250k pots also to warm it up further? Electronics are a 3 way toggle, 2 vol and 2 tone pots.....any recommendations on capacitor size?
