Lookin the goods Stu! I'm a bit puzzled though?....I see one white veneer strip down the neck and then 2 at the end of the headstock? Also, what is the centre timber? Looks like Blackwood on the outers, and perhaps a sheoak head plate veneer? Although I can see the glimpses of a 'sandwich' there I think ......nothing like makin' some sweet dust on a satdy

Cheers buddy. Got a bit on each build done today.
Where the fretboard gets glued down to is two veneers, one of which is about .5mm below the top surface so you're seeing the titebond obscuring the veneer running full length just below the surface on that side.
The neck's centre lam.ination is Qld walnut whilst the outers are indeed blackwood.
With the heasdplate, I layed down a 2mm she-oak h/plate, then glued down a .5mm black maple veneer. On top is a 3.0mm sheoak h/plate
to maintain a nice routed deliniation. I think it works allright.
It's a little different to the conventional binding method.
Cheers, Stu

Tuner holes drilled, Truss-rod sorted also.
I'm leaning towards leaving the fretboard as is ( no binding)
I think how it looks now will look better than running binding/purf lines up the fretboard and over-detailing things.
Suggestions if you've got them ?
And yes, that is actually REAL rain in the background on my decking.
The drought's broken.......... Pfffft
cheers, Stu

bind it i reckon to match the headstock
have you got an objective as to how this guitar will sound?
what music genre it would it be suited for?
looking good - superlative craftsmanship as is usual with your workray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

It might just be my Sunday eyes again mate, but I reckon it looks like that fretboard is already sized for some binding... and I am always a sucker for a nice bit of binding work, so I'd have to say go with some binding. Maybe just something basic, like a thin bit of veneer closed off with another strip of the ebony, just to put a nice little contrast line down the top and bottom of the fretboard.

Awesome headplate veneer work there. I am leaning towards a 2mm sheoak binding strip down each side of the FB....this would join the body to the headplate beuatifully...it may also enable the ebony FB to stand out a bit more without being 'lost' on the edges.
I can see the argument for sheoak body, sheoak headplate and just black ebony joining the 2....hmmmmm decisions decisions
I like this raging fires build Stu.

Thanks for the opinions on to bind or not to bind.
I'll sit on it overnight and reassess tomorrow.
I've got an idea for the fret markers I'm gonna have a play with tomorrow so how that turns out could influence things.
And Hammered............It really was a big night ,eh?
The f/board is tapered to finished size but not to accomodate binding.....yet.
I think the oversize graphtec nut blank must be throwing your eyes off kilter
cheersa all, Stu

Finally got back to this one..............
Last weekend I got the Bloodwood Inlay finished, radiussed and fretted the neck.
Also carved the neck. I've also modified the controls cavity to a newer , more
'builder-friendly ' set-up.

Hasn't rained since?
I don't know how you can leave a build that long...you've got more control than me...
(I guess you moved in that time too so I'll forgive you)
It gets said so often about your builds that I am going to give it its own designation.
GLBS!
...great looking build stu...Cheers!Mongrel
