Default Repro Fender "Pat Pending" Saddles

    From this Fleabayer: http://myworld.ebay.com/whatmamadontknow/

Has anyone seen these in the flesh?

Price sure is right; I have a mate badgering me to get his '69 Strat a little closer to original after a couple of bad lives in the '70s and '80s (remember the "scrape off all the paint" phase, and the "heavy as a brick brass hardware" phase)? Funny thing is, I sold his original bridge to another guy years back - who now won't part with it!

Look forward to any insight on this one.

    Thanks, Adam.

you can buy genuine fender parts replacements from fender
or i know a guy who can get genuine old stock stuff with a bit of age on it
for a 69 strat dont waste you money on anything that isnt 100% genuine

That seems expensive for non genuine to me. I'm seeing $44, the seller is in Germany - seems to come out at $30 + $5 PP from stairway to Kevin, and you can drive over there and punch him if the need arises. (Not that I think it would).

The big difference is the inscription. S2K's stuff looks like the usual AMS (wholesalers) fare.

Fender do not sell the "PAT. PENDING" stamped saddles. They only sell the ones stamped "FENDER" twice over. I've seen very good repro Fender amp front plates out of Germany; even down to the batching marks on the back.

Plus a change in manufacturing techniques (mainly in surface prep, pre-plating) has meant that most repros look wrong as the corners/edges are subtly rounded off - it's the use of Scotchbrite type products as opposed to fine linishing.

In the past, I took blank saddles to a skilled engraver with a sample, and had them copied - but he's basically retired now, and his handskills aren't what they were. Looks like I may give them a punt and report back...

    Cheers, Adam.

Just came across this, while looking for reverb tank schematics.
