Some sides bent!
The bender was not as successful as I thought it would be, I had to bend everything again with the iron. Heat was rapid and not under control, I have to do a bit more research into how best to get the blanket up to temp slower so the sides have a bit of time to relax rather than just sweat then dry out. I broke a side!

Finally something that resembles a ukulele body, baritone size sapele body.
Another in the mould with heal and tail blocks gluing.
And a cherry tenor under way. The kerfing has just been bent to shape and not glued in, I have to make some cauls for it before I start gluing anything together.

I did a bit of wood collecting this morning, a little bit of Blackwood we milled last week up in the hills. The log was 3.5 meters long and 500mm diameter. Took the top off and milled a 65mm slab off the centre. The top and bottom will be broken down to retrieve more quarter sawn sections then the whole lot debarked, stacked, strapped and left to dry.
Also completed the kerfing on another baritone. Back to the shed!

A few more pictures. The two Huon topped Sapele Baritones are almost ready to close up the backs.
Just about to start bracing the Western Red Cedar tops for the Silky Oak baritones and the King Billy top has just finished gluing for the Cherry Tenor.

I guess the unknown sound is part of the frustration but with your experience they all look and should sound great.

Some more progress has been made, all four baritone bodies have been assembled, next step is binding all of them.
I really like the Silky Oak bodies, they just pop!
The Cherry tenor is getting it’s back glued on at the moment, the King Billy top looks great!
