Well the tenor ukulele is coming together, a short video of where it’s up to now. The fretboard and neck are still seperate entities at the moment. A bit of finishing still required on the body before I glue the neck on.

I have discussed the inlay and the burl with my better half and we both agree that the burl is too busy for the paua. I will be modifying the headstock veneer to suit the inlay on the other instruments.
Dont you love how wood shows it beauty with those first coats? I do!
Great work Cal!
Beautiful work!
These are looking absolutely stunning Cal, well done.
I just finished another inlay, this time I used Wenge as the background. The last one got lost a bit in the burl. What do you think??

Love the color contrast with the Wenge, very striking.
agree colour contrast looks great Cal :) :2tsup:
Yes that one looks better. In fact even without the bird it would still be a good looking head stock.

Thank you gentlemen, I will stick with the shape then!
I made up a paper template to work from to make it all more accurate. I now have 4 done to suit the baritones and a few spares just in case.
I cut them out on the bandsaw and sanded to fit then used superglue to bond them together. A little sawdust to fill in any gaps and they will be right to start cutting the inlays in before attaching them to the headstocks with titebond.

Built another jig today, this one is for cutting the neck pocket in the bodies. I have made half baked ones in the past but it got old quickly.
I still need to screw some timbers on for router guides, it should be easier to use though. Lined with some leather from the old couch so I don’t scratch the bodies and to help grip them too.
