    Default silver wattle for neck?

    Hi all,
I am looking at using some quartersawn silver wattle for the neck of my next build though I haven’t heard much about this timber or had any experience with it.
Looking at the density & hardness, it seems like it would be ok, though I have heard that some people don’t like other acacias like blackwood for necks (while others say it’s great)?????
I’ve tested some small pieces & it seems to saw, carve & sand ok – just have to be careful to avoid tear-outs as there is a bit of figuring to it.
Are there any major problems that anyone can see with this?
    Thanks
    PJ

as long as wood is environmentally stable (ie dry) , i reckon most wood of reasonable density and hardness can be used for guitar necks...espc those which are similar to the staple woods(mahogany/maple) for commercial guitar neck production in density/hardness

    Dimensional stability is also important....

    ..indeed...

...i value this wood attribute very very highly espc as i do my guitar necks without any finish or a truss rod

...however, maple is not exactly the poster child for 'dimensional stability' and it is a staple construction material for guitar necks espc electric ones...

Thanks for the advice guys - I will forge ahead as planned.
Have 2 pieces big enough for necks so will make twins!
Will post some pics when under way - may take a while though with my slow workrate.
    Thanks again,
    PJ
