Spool Clamps DIY
I was looking at buying a set from stewmac - predelivery almost $10 ea - after delivery more like $16
Threaded rod 1/4" - one length does 4, Tnut pk 4, Tube - 1 roll does 100, hard nylon for washer (already had it) Scrap timber - free.
Total cost $1.44 each (having a lathe does help make it look good)
- add the fancy squishy washers in picture as an upgrade from cork (glue doesn't stick to it)
Luxury Total $5.72 ea
Yes a lot of repetitious work but hey - making the tools adds to the fun. (Drop of wax based bike chain lube on thread )
Now I have 20 at less than a third of the cost and they look pretty similar.

Those are way fancier than the ones I made but mine cost even less. Scrap wood and some bolts.
Stewmac has some nice stuff but it is a bit expensive.
