Tough isn’t it? On one hand you can have 5 lousy entries and they will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. On the other hand you can have 2 brilliant entries but they cannot award the 1st prize.

Mathew your double bass is one amazing piece of work. To me I know what the top 5 pieces at the show are and that’s what matters.

Damn I was banking on the $500 so I could buy a Domino. Oh well I will have to wait one more year.

I think you would have had to win twice for one of those Scott.

Wongo before you pick up your sleek rocker I want a sit in it. You can have a plunk on the bass!

    More like three times craig!

Congratulations to you both, I can't believe there weren't more entries. I guess that's why we don't see those sorts of competitions in Bris?

Pity, I think it really adds to the show.

    Cheers,

    P

    Mathew,

I had a look at your double bass at the T&WWWS and thought it was an amazing piece of work. I've since looked at your website that shows the steps involved in making the instrument and now I'm even more amazed. I like the creative way you modified tools and came up with innovative ways to make the bass without having a worshop kitted out with all the latest tools. Well done, your double bass is fantastic.
    Regards,
    Ian.

Nah, I was born in 69. I have a fair few copies of Woodworker magazine dating from the late 50's and early 60's but I don't have any from 69. I don't know why I chose the cover I did, probably becasue I am interested in hand planes. It's also interesting that in 1960 ten pin bowling is being billed as "a new sport for Britain" and the bloke with the plane is a bit over dressed don't you think. I've never worn a tie in the workshop.
    Regards,
    Ian.
