Looking pretty good. The matching wood knobs are a good idea. Metal bling would kind of distract from all that nice woodwork.
Yep still in that chair and watching.
Regards
John

The binding channel was a breeze to rebate , bending the jarrah around the cutaway sections not so easy.

Neck pocket now routed and its a nice fit.Over the next couple of days I'll be getting the top and back carved, control cavity on back routed and wiring tunnels. Start shaping that neck and get the fingerboard sorted out too.

All curvy and clean now, looking way better than before.
Control plate still needs to be made and holes drilled for neck attachment then its sealer time.
Neck is now shaped too.
Getting closer.....

Tassie oak fingerboard was chosen to compliment the body, the darker boards just didn't suit.
A few small details left to do then its finally time to seal it up.

Sealer coat has been applied and the change is everything I'd hope for, the timbers look amazing. This will end up with a satin finish and gold hardware. I'll definitely be using this combo on future builds, the houndstooth pattern will be used again but not for awhile, need to focus on a few less intense builds.

First satin coat done and the timbers look amazing. Have to leave it for a day or two then scuff it back for what should be the 2nd and final coat.

All wiring complete and hardware installed, time to do the setup. Headstock logo is a Jarrah inlay as well as the Section8 brand name between the pickups.

Thanks John,
One of my favorite parts of this build is the volume / tone knobs, I had some Tassie Oak dowel laying around that was 22mm in diameter. Drilled the centre out and cut it at 12mm then layered the veneers on for a cap. They look great and don't steal the focus from the top.

Thanks Paul,
Now it's done I can't believe I waited so long to build it. It looks good but more importantly it sounds amazing.
