Tremolo Bridge for Humbuckers?
Hi,
I'm currently planning to build an electric guitar. I'd like to make the basic design like a Tele although I want two humbuckers rather than single coils. I'd also like the guitar to have a Fender-style non-locking tremolo bridge. My understanding of Fender-style bridges is that the string-spacing doesn't match humbuckers - is that right? If so, where can I get a tremolo bridge with the right string spacing?
Cheers,
Chris

You can adjust string spacing on most bridges.
Perhaps schaller, or Gotoh 510?
Let us know if they wont be right.

Just re read. If you are making the guitar yourself you can place the pickups where they will match up or put the pickups on a slight angle.
Perhaps you should email Mick Brierley at brierly guitar pickups (Australian made Pickups, great quality supposed to be the best) and ask him about.

Like Perry said, trems have a different spacing. Most trems use F Spaced pickups.
Having said that, I just used standard pickups on a build with a floyd and they work fine

Has the measurements. Seymour duncan has some good faq's on his website. kahlers are width adjustable but are locking and probably dearer than you want.
SD and others offer fender spaced humbuckers.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Different trems have different string spreads.
IIRC Hipshots are fairly narrow, Wilkinson's vary & I think Gotoh's vary depending on model too.
hipshot: STEWMAC.COM : Hipshot Tremolo
The Wilkinson from Guitar Fetish : Wilkinson Stainless Saddle Trem- Fit's ALL Strats!! Sparkling Chrome
is narrower yet.

Why not a Bigsby model P-GB16-AB tele specific . Looks way ,way cool and with something like a Graphtec nut plays and stays in tune . All I can say is Mine is fine . I think it cost about $120 even covered the bridge / p/up . Try www.cedist.com
