Thanks Euge!
I’m planning the next one, there are a few things I will be changing, the main one being a larger volume body. This one lacks a bit of resonance in the b and e strings, I am loving the challenge though. Onwards and upwards

Wonderful instruments and I hope the new owners cherish them. Last night I saw this for the first time and totally enjoyed the music in this video and all the others they have put on YT

Thanks Chris, nice of you to say!
The kids love their instruments and I’m pretty chuffed with mine too

What an absolutely wonderful and enjoyable sound (and song). Thanks for sharing Chris.
I love it ... who would have thought a bunch of ukes and voices could sound so good.
Maybe Cal and his SA friends can put something together like that?

Euge, I spent a few hours watching their other stuff which is at least as good as the one I posted.

They certainly sound fantastic, I only dream of being able to play like that! The fellow in my video is coming back this afternoon to start teaching me how to play, I need to take little steps first

I know this post is late but I have decided that I will attempt to construct a ukulele out of some beautiful quilted redwood I have but I am struggling with a fretboard with frets fitted, neck, head and tuners.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mature one,
There are uke necks and fretboards on ebay but I dont think they would do justice to real nice timber. Be OK to build a basic uke out of something plain as a starting point. Cal's question is kind of on my lips too so I will say that doing the fret board is not as difficult as it may first look. You have to just read up on how it's done then have a practice on some scrap wood to get the feel of it before doing your first fretboard.
Fret Position Calculator | stewmac.com
The link will show the fret measurements for whatever scale length you chose.
Why dont you start a new thread and ask all the questions as a way of starting your project.
Regards
John

I am having a uke made for me by a local luthier from Australian woods that I supplied to him.
Fretboard will be figured Western Myall, the sound board of figured Aust red cedar, sides & back of figured Tas blackwood. Will post pics when I have it, or they are sent by the maker. Will then have to learn a few chords )

Thanks for the replies .This ukulele is to be a learner for now if I am happy with it I will certainly build a tenor and post my progress .Just learning to bend sides is causing headaches ,but onwards and upwards.

I’m still going Euge, I have been flat out at work for months and have gotten back into renovating the kitchen over the last few weeks (almost done)
I have a heap of timber to keep me in ukuleles for the time being, just need to square everything else up before I get back into them.
Can’t wait to see your ukulele when it’s done!
Keep well!

Great to see all is OK with you Cal. Busy is good in these times (distraction). Ive been busy feeding and managing another Page with tree & wood information (non commercial).
My uke is done and posted as a Tenor Uke. have a look under A Tenor Ukulele
So beautiful I hardly dare to hold it. Its nice to see beautiful wood put to good use.
