    Default Violin repair wannabe

I've recently been asked to consider repairing violins as well as guitars. I've done the odd simple job on violins, cellos etc., but because I don't play 'em, I don't really know much about 'em. And it's not as though I can do a violin repair course. At least not one that's within 300km of where I live anyway. So...
Can anyone recommend a good violin repair book? Or maybe a DVD.

Don't know about repair books but I recently bought this book on making fiddles and its one of the better ones around. IMHO getting to know how a violin is made would definitely help you understand how to repair the things.

Beware..this book isnt cheap, I paid just over $Aus200 for it.

    Paul,
You may be wrong with your comment above, we had a presentation 4-5 years ago from a violin maker/repairer (think he lived on the Eastern Shore), made some beautiful instruments and was looking for someone at that stage to train up.

I'm trying to track down some contact details for you, send me an e-mail with your contact details.

That name sounds familiar, 'tis been since that time and I'm waiting for my contact to get back to me with details including the name I'd fogotten. He did say to me that the person had been unwell for a while.
