    Default WA timber guitar neck

    Hello,
I am trying to build an all WA solid body guitar (timberwise anyways). I am going with sheoak for the body and a slice from a 50 yr old wandoo power pole crossarm for a fingerboard.

I am hung up on what to use for a neck wood. I would use sheoak but according to the Forrest products commission, sheoak has a lower modulus of elasticity (stiffness) than even pine.

I am looking for what appears to be a rare wood in WA. Something that is stiff, not very heavy, and stable (and available). Has anyone used a WA timber to build a guitar neck? If so how did it go, and would you do it again? If you havent, can you think of a timber that might work?

    thanks
    -Jeremy

Tim Spittle who runs Australian Tonewoods is over your way and would be the person to talk to about WA woods. Over the years Ive bought some nice desert woods off him.

Tim replied within a half hour, and told me that he has a sheoak guitar neck with several laminations that's stiff enough and stable. Im thinking Im going to do it this way, and this way it will match the body.
