Wedge tail eagle double cutaway
Hi,
This is a build I finished off and handed over a little back. There is a build thread, however it is too old to post additional posts to so..
The build thread is here:
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f98/st...y-build-62626/
The specs:
Master grade fiddleback blackwood carved top with flamed maple binding
Chambered blackwood body
5 piece laminated blackwood and rock maple neck
Ebony fretboard and face plate with engraved gold mother of pearl inlay
Gotoh hardware
Duncan SH2 in neck and SH11 in the bridge
Oops Forgot 2 screws and there is some nut bone dust on the headstock. Got sorted before hand over.
Cheers,
Peter

Wow! veeeerrry nice looking piece!
Love the contrast between the blackwood and maple in the neck. Pretty clean looking inlay work too.

Nice one Peter. Right up my alley this build. Where did you find the bird inlays?.....or did you make them one by one?

Thanks for the kind words folks,
Jon, all the inlays are hand cut from blanks and engraved by hand. They are silhouettes of wedge tailed eagles in flight. The process is documented in the build thread
More pics
I dropped off the gat to Dan before his gig and he couldn't help himself. Plugged it in for sound check and got going. He was very pleased with it. If you want to see it in action you can check out Dan Hanaford at most pubs up and down the coast from Brissy to Coff Harbour. He has a blues swing roots sound that is very easy on the ears. Sorry I couldn't get a better pic.
Cheers,
Peter

`Nice little refinements all over, Peter.
I really like the flame maple binding around the high figured blackwood top.
Nice use of black MOP for the trussie cover too.
