way to go. I do similar my bass tops, more or less. Can't get wide enough boards, so just use a long plank of straight wood + wings!!

ive got my build very close to completed, just need to do the final sanding, glua and screw the neck in, finish it, then do a nut and the pickguard and then wind the second pickup (it seems like alot of extra work now that i say it) i got bored of doing the sanding and decided to do some work on the neckthrough bass im building for my girlfriend to use (just getting the roughly glued laminates level on one side so i can start doing some actual work) wood looks good though (png rosewood-wenge-zebrano-wenge-png rosewood) it makes me think that making a neckthough is a fair bit less work than the other methods if i plan it ahead of time. it will be good practice for the neckthrough 12 that i will do after this one.

Gyprocking the new master bedroom most of the weekend - man I hate gyprock, and the insulation isn't much fun either. With the warmer weather this weekend I was sweating my guts out, ended up itching all over from the insulation, and caked in plaster dust.
On Saturday nite, I did get to rout the binding ledges on one of the 000's I'm building. So at least I made some progress.

why do we do it??
i know what its like making money with the skills of your hands and the wit and cunning arts of your mind - more strength to your arm rhoads56 -
building a guitar is an infinitely relaxing & satisfying expression of that craftsman part of me that is such a big part of me - but the last thing i want to do though is build guitars on monday morning for money
i guess we all have different goals in this endeavor huh?
be interesting to hear from any one else on the subject of why we do itLast edited by old_picker; 27th August 2007 at 11:25 AM. Reason: clarity

Mate, i hate the weekends... it means i cant relax and enjoy myself. From Saturday arvo to monday morning, all i think about is what im doing next week, and all i want to do is go back into work For me, its more of a hobby that consumes a good 50+ hours a week, AND i get paid for doing it :P Whats the other choice, working in an office or for 'the man'? No thanks!!

I can see! I have new glasses! Straight lines are ....... straight! In other news,
don't DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take up floor boards in a 100 and something year old house in Tasmania if you don't have to. And if you haven't got a bunch of bearers, footings, joists and more floorboards on hand. My weekend is full, and I was only doing this because it was too windy to do the roof. Sheesh.

A style Mandolin
Ive stripped a mandolin from an International Violin Co kit that I put together over chrissie holidays. I really stuffed up the finish because I tried a sunburst thing with no spray gun and way to little experience. So the revised finish is blonde and black. Ill post a seperate thread.
