Speaker cabinet finish
Hi all,
New here, starting a speaker cabinet project soon, just wondering if there's something similar to Acry-Tech's DuraTex Speaker Cabinet Texture Coating here in Australia.

Thanks all.

Check your local automotive spray painters shop for texture coats; or the local Bunnies as there are some 'rock texture' type spray cans in their paints aisle. (can't remember what they are called but I've used one to get a texture finish on something)

I used a (Dulux, I think) suede finish paint on some speaker boxes a couple of years ago, but the finish was too soft and they marked very easily.
Put an extra coat of paint on to hide blemishes, and then two coats of clear matt Estapol. Tough stuff, that Estapol, and virtually invisible on the suede paint.
Cheers

If you are looking for a pro audio type textured black..... yep its called Rockhard....... Neil Smith ( aka Smithy) has it brewed up somewhere.
I'm not sure if he's distributing it himself these days or if NET are still doing it for him.
I have 3 buckets of it here
black
Martin gray
Turbsound Blue.
If they havnt gone off.

Some of us tried a number of " contrived" options for texture finish prior to rock hard becomming available.
There is a product called emerclad ( aparantly) that is suposed to be very similar to rock hard but I havnt been able to source it.
I tried the automotive stone chip type texture finishes...... mmmm ... there ... ok,,,, but a bit soft and tary & you need to overcoat them as they are not intended as a top coat.
Forget underbody sealer.....yuk.
the ute tray textures might be worth a look but they are generlay not black.
Have seen houshold textures used like some of the paint, plaster or sand based products......almost all dont give the required style of texture and the durability is shocking.
I saw a case that had been done with granosite then sprayed black over......OH that was uuuuuggggly.
I did some work with berger jet dry with the tru grip traction additive tripple dosed that worked quite sucessfully.....fiddley and realy time consuming clean up....very durable.
any paving paint with a shaken sand coat with a couple of coats over doesnt look to bad.... I use this for traction on stairs and ramps.
Standard black acrilic laid on thick with a spagetti roller sor of works but lacks durability.
yeh I ve tried all sorts of things.
the best option is rock hard or emerclad if you can get them.
or have it thermo coated..... if you can find someone who does it.

Mini is correct. It's a spray on application - and once it's on your ute (or speaker bass cabinet in this case) it's practically indestructible. I'm not sure how you'd get a small enough quantity for a cabinet though...probably best to find a local mob and see if you can sneak your cabinet in 'between jobs'.

I have Rhino linings on my VZ SS ute. Magic stuff doesn't slip (which was a problem when I picked up my DVR lathe ).
There's a guy at Blacktown who does it, but it's expensive. He charged $120 to spray the tailgate after it was replaced after someone ran into me. Don't know if he sells the material only. He's normally mobile and travels from card dealer to car dealer.
