More Palm Tree Pod art.
Got a hold of some more palm tree pods and have made table displays with them, just interested on peoples
thoughts if these would sell and what you might pay. I getting some good comments from friends but not sure if they are
just being nice. They don't take long to do but the hardest part is getting them to sit right, had to mold clay feet to the undulating
shape of the back but I guess that's the beauty of them, they have their own unique shape and grain.

Hi Woodsurfer,
I sanded them back and cleaned up a lot of loose bits with a wire brush. They have a fairly nice natural grain but usually an
uneven color so I stained them with golden oak then clear satin varnish. The hardest part is getting them to sit right, sometimes you can make little pine feet
from dowel but the shape is so undulating that I had to use air dry clay to make most feet, mold it to the shape of the back, let it dry then glue them back on.
If you can come up with something better let me know. I've got lots of different ideas for them it's just getting around to doing it.

The issue may be the "footprint" on the table/side board.
I (simply) do not have the bench space for a long one.
$50 for a vertical to show off some treasures, OK.
Hope you don't think I'm too skinny with my pension money.
I want one.

Hi Alex, Good question, It would depend on the shape, I think the big vertical one in the photo would be ok as a wall hang with some air plants sat in it,
would probably be quite effective, I don't think beard lichen would work, a bit messy, but good food for thought.

I like the long and skinny ones as well as the vertical ones. They will fit onto mantles and side tables much better than a huge round platter.
Maybe they could be slung on something like a hammock?

Would it not be fantastic to host a dinner party with a bunch of those as the serving dishes?

I'm going to try and get a bit arty farty with a few that I have that are split to far to glue. They still have those natural curves so I thought I might try and cut out shapes where they are split, stand them vertically in a cement base and paint them bright tropical colors, bit of visual art. What do you think?
RV your right, probably make very nice serving dishes or fruit dishes. So many good ideas, keep them coming folks.
Tea lady, the long skinny one looks great on a buffet or shelf, not quite sure what you mean with the hammock?
