On the subject of saw plate, I could use a piece of thin kerf and one or two the same as the carcase saws, depending on price. Can you let me know?

    Cheers

OK, I'm in for some plate as well.
    Yes, we are addicted.

Slitting the brass back will be our downfall, removal of fingers with routers and angle grinders and small cutters,
crooked cuts with hacksaws, maybe tiny cutting wheel on dremel, I shall try them all.

Yes, I went out and got 1mm cutting disks and drill bits and files today, now to find 7/16 forstner bits...

I was thinking to engrave a number and date onto the brass spine where it sits inside the handle so I can track my progress as I hopefully improve.

If someone tries that etching I'd be interested to see the results.

    Hi Dale,

That etching would be interesting to see how it turns out, Josh was talking about doing something on the small CNC mill, so I guess we will see in due course.

If anyone wants slit brass, I could be persuaded to do small quantities, or if you know someone with a reasonable mill, I can pass on the details of how to set it up.

    Regards
    Ray

Many thanks to Dale, Ian and Ray for a great day. I had been looking forward to Saturday for a number of weeks and it didn't disappoint. As others have mentioned, my saw is also incomplete but hopefully should be going after some handle shaping. I'm now wondering whether this is the top of a slippery slope or not - time will tell I guess

    2. TURN THE BLADE AROUND AND LIVE WITH THE HOLES
    3. TURN THE BLADE AROUND AND SHORTEN IT AN INCH TO REMOVE THE HOLES OR POSSIBLY CANT THE BADE TO REMOVE THEM.
    4. MAKE A NEW BLADE AND USE THIS BLADE TO MAKE A SMALLER GENTS SAW.
