Looks great Steve,
You could have put a chalk line down the path to the clothes hoist.
You've seen that post about making it look right.
Put the both cars on there passing each other or going opposite directions.
Anyway, well done again.

Who parked that VW Bettle in your driveway??

Steve, these photos look like the real deal and you said you weren't much of a photographer - no way, it look fantastic...
Thank you for all the extra time and effort to do the great "Work In Progress" detailed build, well done.
Cheers, crowie

I could have sworn that I replied to this thread Steve. The photo's on the path look absolutely great only one problem "You never cut the grass".
The car looks 10 times better in this last lot of photo's I certainly will be waiting for you to start your next project. I think a toy train will be good as there is plenty of bits you can turn that will get the turning bug out of the way and get you back to making scale models.
Seriously looking forward to you starting the FC
Keep up the good work

Thanks guys. Yeah, I noticed that the driveway looked a bit like a road. Originally, the garage/workshop was in the pics as well but I had to crop because it made the VW look too small. I'll have to remember the white paint next time Pete. (_fly)
(Everyone's called 'Pete' around here. Where's all the 'Steves' gone? )
Pete, (crowie), I enjoy doing the WIPs and get a fringe benefit as well - if I ever make the same model I can refer back to the original WIP to remind myself how I did things first time around.
I'm thinking now about making a little trailer for the VW as well, to use up the two spare matching wheels and timber scraps that are left over. Either a box trailer or a bike trailer in anticipation of a future bike build. I'll see if I get motivated enough. I'll need to check out proportions - where to put the axle, how long to make the drawbar etc, in Yonnee's trailer section.
Speaking of whom, are you still alive and kicking Pete, (Yonnee)? Still progressing on your Beetle?
You did reply, Derek, here in post #215: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f201/1...ml#post1723750
Thanks for the (bonus) kind words. Have you shown anyone the mag?
Gotta mow that lawn today. Believe it or not, I only did it a week ago. We've had a good combination of rain and sun this week. And my back-fence neighbour mowed on the same day but his hasn't grown at all. Must be all of the dog fertiliser here.
Thanks again for all the great feedback, guys.... Steve

Not a bad idea Pete. I was thinking of something simpler, but a caravan would look good.
I'll see how motivated I get. I made an alarm clock case a while ago by bending 2mm Basswood ply around a frame. Could do something similar to get that nice round shape.
So, now it'll be a box trailer or a bike trailer or a caravan. I'm leaning a bit toward a bike trailer because when I had my last Beetle it used to drag a bike trailer around everywhere, but if I make one of those I have to make a dirt bike to suit. I'm not sure if I'm up to that yet.... Steve

Steve you should make a tear drop trailer. I think it would look great with your bug. Couple of pics from google images.

And I couldn't help myself. An image of the current state of the 64' and my new toy(I mean tool) I got for Xmas.

Steve you done a great job on the beetle a vast improvement on the gatto plans I agree with Bret I think a tear drop trailer would look great being towed behind the beetle

Thanks for the encouragement Bob and Arthur. I really appreciate it.
Bret, the pickup is looking good. You'll be driving it in no time.
And I love that compressor. Is it as big as it looks? Looks perfect for spraying motor vehicles. (Might be overkill for spraying scale models.)
A teardrop caravan isn't a bad idea. I was actually thinking of slightly bigger. More like the one behind this FJ. I think it's small enough for a VW, and something about the shape appeals to me. There won't be a visible spare, though, because I only have two VW wheels left.

But now that you've mentioned it, a teardrop type would be good too.
I won't be doing it right now, though. First I want to get in some woodturning for a little while. Lots of skew practice turning beads etc and a few more bowls, until the stuff I learned the other day is second nature.
I'm getting really proficient at spiral catches while rolling beads.... Steve
