I was going to say that you really need to hear some of their music. I'm sure you've heard them.
Then I spotted this: ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin' (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) - YouTube
Edit: I didn't want to insert the vid - too much of a hijack. (Sorry Bret. )... Steve

Peter is this serious? I know they have toured in Australia.
The band formed in 1969. Its Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard. Billy has alot of cool cars including the 33' Ford called the Eliminator. Its in the Sharp Dresse Man video below. Also Cadzilla.
I bought one of their infamous Key chains. It will go in the keys to the 64' pickup to honor my father i law. He loved ZZ Top.
Here is their most famous song I would think. Its a about a brothel in Texas.

Managed to squeeze some time in the shop today.
I started on the 4 link for the front suspension. I got the passenger side done.
I first ripped an .80 thick piece of Maple to make the rods. Then I rounded over one side and then cut it out with my jewelers saw on the bench pin vise.
Next up was the ends of the rods and the front and rear brackets made from .40 thick.
I cutout patterns for the brackets and double stick taped them to the stock. Cut them on the bench pin vise.
The 4 link mocked up with rubber cement.
Mocked up on the frame with rubber cement. Love this stuff. And it smells good. LOL
I know it looks all out of whack but this top view shows it much better. It has a little bit of twist to it.
Now I have to make the other side. And then the steering box and steering components. Then I plan to make the transmisson and motor mounts so I can mockup the engine in place.

Sorry Peter no progress. In fact the 32' has been put into one of my storage drawers.
However I have been a busy boy. I am currently making my mom a huge Nutcracker soldier for her xmas present. She has been collecting them for many years and has about 50 of them. It dawned on I can make her one of those now. Here are a couple of pics.

I also have been hard at work on the 64' pickup. In fact this Thursday I start an 11 day long vacation. My goal is to work on the truck and the Nutcracker everyday. I have 90% of the inside of the cab stripped to the bare metal. I just received a bunch of sheet metal for repair. Hope to get all of installed on my vacation. I got both rockers, and outer floor pans and the kick well for driver's side. I had 41 unneccassary holes in the floor I am currently welding up. I borrowed my dad's welder and in the process of learning how to weld. It is a Mig welder so its really not all that hard just takes practice to get good at it. I am also working on fixing all the cracks in the steering wheel to make it look new again.

I know its probably not the updated you wanted to see but at least you know where I am at and I am staying busy. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The pickup's looking good Bret. I've been meaning to check out your thread at 67-72chevytrucks.com, but been side-tracked by my current obsession.
And you'll be glad you're learning to weld. It's worth getting your own MIG now that you've learned how. Very useful in the workshop. I could do with one, but couldn't fit it in.
I'd be interested to know what you're using to fill the cracks in the steering wheel?
I like the nutcracker, too. Will you be posting pics when it's finished?... Steve

Sorry Peter it is still in the drawer. But I have made alot of progress on the 64'.
Pulled engine and trans
Pulled bed
Next is welding the new floorpans and rocker panels in and then pulling the cab off the frame so I can start on the frame and suspension.
