There is no standard anywhere for suffix and prefix numbers and letters.... Everyone went their own way..
New Departure would have designed their system back pre WW2... That was a long time ago... Long before the world embraced standardisation... And there is a zillion different types of bearings out there... Say if you are building a car with an expected production run of a few million units, getting a special bearing made is a nothing event...
Just be thankful they embraced the metric sizes and did not invent a whole line of inch based ball bearings, which certainly do exist and I have found many examples in equipment made in Australia as we followed the UK lead... Both the Nuttal lathe I owned and my New Visby are full of UK made inch based ball bearings.
The 10EE is full of metric sized ball bearings.....
Ball Bearings were euro invented, hence why the metric sizes are so common even in old US made equipment. (although they do have a line of mixed metric imperial sized bearings, like say a nominal metric OD but a nominal imperial ID) come across that once in a hay rake...
Tapered rollers were invented in the US.. That is why imperial sizes are so common in them...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

Hercus 22" Drill
Not really an auction or Gumtree but a garage sale.
Sale is in Wentworth Falls, NSW 2782.
Hercus 22" "camelback" drill.
Machine appears complete except for a flat belt. Some levers are stiff but I think cleaning and lube would fix.
Table seems in good shape. Machine is fitted with a 3 phase motor - no idea if that works.
Owner can load onto transport
Price is $400. PM me as the owner does not want his details on the web.
Regards,
Findlay.

I believe so. It has a gearbox (well it isn't a box, just a cover with gears under it) to the right of and just behind the quill.
I don't know the finer details of these machines.
It is quite massive and unwieldy. I am guessing that this is well over 600Kg. The 3 phase motor alone must be close to 100Kg.
Currently I am resisting - I have a couple of things happening now that leaves me with little workshop time.
Cheers,
Findlay.

Anyone come across this before....
Looking at a book in the US...
Says in the listing
" INTERNATIONAL BIDDING REQUIRES APPROVAL."
So I go to ask a question and this comes up
Unfortunately, this seller is not able to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing.
So how the hell are you supposed to get approval when you can not contact the seller...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.
