Yeah if the BIN was higher it would be more attractive. "Used once" suggests they found out it was rooted.
Still, there are bargains. Ewan seems to find them.
Close inspection strongly recommended though. I would be looking if it was closer.

Patience, eyes and ears open and i think most importantly the ability to act quickly when such a bargain comes along. Things tend to pop up when you least expect them too, like the hercus drill. I also tend to gamble on things, a number of my machines have been bought solely on photo's and not much else.

Example-i hear word of a Holbrook model C in good condition on the other side of town....now i just need to find out who it is and convince them they need to sell it In the meantime if anyone see's a model C anywhere and they are not interested i would be. Call it my dream "mid sized" lathe if you will.

That's the cutest micrometer height gauge I've ever seen. First one ever that was only 6". I wonder if they sold a 3" riser, to mimic it's big brother.

In other news, I saw these the other day, brand new 8" Waldown grinders. 4 of them at $1,365 each. I thought who's gonna buy them at that price.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GRINDER-B.../161243407966?

This morning they have been pulled. "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available"

    Regards Phil.

Knowing that I was interested in buying a Waldown drill, Michael pointed me towards this one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/pedestal-...p2047675.l2557

I was the only bidder for it, so I got it for $150. It had been listed before at a higher price, but did not receive a bid. I think it may have been more the spelling and wording. "Pedestal Drill Wardown".

Now to get it home and see what I have. It may be quite some time before that happens.

I'm wondering if thats a Waldown base? Looks like the head might have been grafted onto something else.
Depth stop is broken and has been removed for some reason.
    You have 3 phase?

Still lots of drill for the money

Yes, there are colour variations. I did pick that up. I also wondered about the collar at the top of the column, which is not original. I will have to tram it and see how well it is done. The table appears to be in very good condition considering. I will have to look into a depth stop.

I plan on using a VSD on single phase power. A drill press is a perfect machine to use VSD's on.
