And, since they say the motor is cooked, you can't see it running under power. So it's basically worth the price of a second hand mag chuck plus a few bucks maybe.

Reading the discription, it all ready sounds like he has moved home and has abondoned it. That machine is from the 70's. They wern't that price when they were new.

According to the name plate it was bought by the Army back in October '77. Did you notice that for the manual he has taken a picture of a manual for a Hercus 9"? Further more, the VFD enclosure looks to be made of MDF

clearing out a lot of our years of precious collections.
    Very precious rust as well.

Note. Pictures are not of the actual items and are for illustration purposes only.

If I don't get the money I will be bringing with me to new home.
SWMBO wants it gone so he said "I will try to sell it, but this sort of machine is very hard to sell these days."

There does seem to be rust all right, but there is also a lot of cast iron underneath it, so while I agree with Shane that you need to be wary when the conditions state "As is", I still think that as long as you look closely at the basics, cleaning the rust away needn't be too daunting, and it won't have done any real harm to anything either.

From previous experience with metal working machines or equipment when the "selling as is" is used in the description there is generally something else wrong with it that hasn't been described in the description and you don't find out about it until you get it home or receive it in the post.
