Electrolysis won't bring them back if they are completely knackered, but it will remove the rust. Cast iron can have a lot of rust, but not have lost much metal in getting rusty. If the ways are in good shape, but covered in rust, electrolysis removes the rust and leaves the ways in good order, but with black powdered iron particles and /or magnetite particles which can be scrubbed off or blasted with a pressure washer to leave clean metal, but if the ways were worn before getting rusty, they will be clean and still worn out.

Are the legs old tailshafts Ewan? the tops look like they may screw into a socket but the bottoms look like universal joints. I guess that they could have been cheap, strong and light if they are tailshafts, and with an adjustable foot, the uj would be able to settle right down on an uneven surface. You'd even be able to grease the feet

Lathe for sale, pick up from Rottenest Island. Transport fees may limit his customer base.

    Yeah, 5k
It is T13. No tailstock, cross slide or compound, and the one on the dodgy brake lathe does not look like it is from it either. Where do these guys get their prices from?

Their rectal orifice.... I think the logic goes, 'I can see a Holbrook selling for $5000. I have a Holbrook. Therefore it is worth $$$$$...'. Totally ignoring that condition and tooling is everything when it comes to used machinery.

I, personally, would not buy that Holbrook for $500 and the rest of the 'lathe' collection is worth nothing at all, IMO.

When I wanted to get rid of a 20" square head thickness planer and a DeWalt radial arm saw, I priced them to just go away. And - they went to the first person to look.

Think he may have added a few to many Zero's or the paddock where he found it had some Magic Mushrooms growing in it.
