Another new cast.
Another one of my Wifes casts. Just finished it this afternoon.
I had a lot of trouble trying to get it to look as it does, I couldn't quite capture the shimmer and glow it has when rotating it in the light.
Anyway here it is, the best I could do with the camera . I tried a few different backgrounds, and experimented with extra diffusers over the lights.
I learnt a bit in the process, so it was worth having a play.

I wouldn't be complaining about those photos, they look fantastic. Another great job by you both.

Thanks Mik.
She is using inks and pigments, its a process she is developing, and she wont divulge how its done just yet.
All I can say is, these are just the beginning, so much more to come .
Thanks Dallas .
I try to present my pens as they look while I am looking at them in good light, it can be frustrating at times, but great when I get it right.Brad.

I'm not sure which one I like better the pen or the photos. Both are great.
How do you get that reflection on the black? I've done a few on black, and I never that quality of a reflection. Plus my black isn't as black as yours. I'm using black plexiglass as the base. Do I need something black under it?

Well if your Dad is like my Dad, then I know who won . . . . . . Mom.
Yes, the dust is a major pain. Even with photoshop elements, it takes awhile to remove them all. So I rarely do black shots anymore. But I'll have to try the black tile under the plexiglass to see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

The black tile is worth a try, but I dont think you will get the mirror like reflection that glass will give you if your are using the plexiglass.
I suspect that white/grey look that you are getting over your black plexi could be reflection from your light tent. You need to create a dark/black reflection from above and behind your camera. This can be difficult, depending on your set-up.
Watching a utube video that was linked in a thread on the IAP helped me to understand the concept. If I can find it again, I will link the video here.Brad.

I agree with MIK - this looks like a fantastic space portrait. Personally on the various shots, I really like the one on the reflective black surface.
Amazing looking pen, and great photos. Thanks for sharing.
Simon.
