Wot's he done with those wheels???
Any news... Or.... are you planning a big surprise reveal..... :suspense

Hey Andrew good to hear from you mate.
There's no surprises in store with the wheels.
At the moment Joe in Bendigo is making a ring to add to an old bicycle drum brake I found.
This isn't the one I found but very similar to it.
brake1.jpg brake2.jpg
It has two main problems it's to small to really look the part, and it has the wrong number of spoke holes in it.
The rim I wont to use has 36 spokes and the drum brake has 40.
So Joe's doing some tricky stuff to make it work!

This wheel is the real deal I don't think I'll be able to get it just right.
But with what Joe's doing his giving me a fighting chance to get pretty close.
I think it will turn out pretty well.
But it's a pain in the you know what, trying to make bicycle wheels look like they belong to a motorcycle!
Cheers mate

The first thing I needed to workout was whether to say something or just shut up.
But in the end I've decided that I should at least acknowledge what happened.
Last night one of the threads on the forum turned into a personal attack.
Firstly I'd like to say whatever I've done to make someone feel that way I apologise for.
I have no interest in upsetting people for any reason!
I'm not about to say the criticism laid against me didn't sting, but I have a pretty thick skin.
And yes I will feel a little uncomfortable for awhile.
But having said that I have no intention of changing the way in which I conduct myself on the forum.
I really enjoy the forum and having my work on it and will continue to do so.
So right now I am going to have a cup of coffee, and scratch my head over the gauges I'm working on
for the Indian.
And later on today I'll probably post a picture of how its going.
But at no point will it be with the intention of upsetting anyone!
Cheers
Trev.

Trevor,
I for one, enjoy your down to earth attitude that you are off for a coffee to ponder the next problem you have. On a number of occasions Forum members have come to the fore with suggestions to help with ideas (such as when you had condensate falling on your project). I also enjoy telling people personal details such as - "no work today looking after our 2YO grandson" isn't that also what this Forum is about - personal camaraderie and general information to get to know a person.
I too propose to continue this until I am told I am not allowed to.
Trevor - love he work you do and the amount of detail and techniques you pass onto us Forum members - it is inspiring and I believe helps people become better craftsmen. It time consuming taking the photos and posting the posts. I sincerely hope you continue wit the amount of detail
All I can say is - thanks,
Best Regards

Trevor. Please upset me ... I'm a masocist - all right someone help me, I spelt it wrong.
Seriously, I like following your progress and that of anyone one whose thread I choose to follow. Choice is such a great thing.
Now if you happened to mention what you are working on, as in the problem at hand we may have been able to come up with some ridiculous ideas and somewhere therein you may have got inspiration.

I just read through that other thread Trevor. If I were you, I'd put it out of my mind and not worry about it any further. The majority has spoken, (I'm with them), and neither yourself, Keith nor Johnnie have done anything wrong. Just a case of 'Winter Grumps', I think. 'Nuff said.
Back on topic, looking forward to the next installment.

Well Trevor, I haven't read the other thread and I don't intend to.
I'm a tradesman, builder and I complete my work to a very high craftsman standard... And I charge accordingly. You can see by my stats that I am a very long term member but a very low count contributor... I don't tolerate fools and I have very strong opinions on most things and generally I don't mind sharing them...
Consequently, I have found myself in flame wars over sometimes the most superfluous concepts and I'm sure you'll agree... At a certain age life just becomes too important to waste precious time on pointless 'weenie wars'.
You Sir, are without a doubt a remarkably talented artisan. With consumate tact and a seemingly unflusterable patience you have shared this remarkable journey with us all.
Not only that, but without hesitation you have allowed us into your thought process and sometimes shared the most intimate insights. It is inevitable that such exposure will leave you somewhat vulnerable to whichever 'despicable', decides to take a cheap shot.
I have no hesitation in saying my life is richer for the experience of knowing you and sharing this journey. I trust it continues and look forward to the day I can congratulate you, in person. At the very least you've taught this Ol' dog a few new tricks and a whole new perspective in the way of viewing this project. Cheers mate!
Don't let the buggers get you down.

Hi Trev,
At the time of writing this, you have 37 pages, over 550 replies and have exceeded 22500 views (has to one of the most viewed threads on here). Surely this says something !!!!
Yours is always one of the first things i look up when i log on. I watch because the pics of your work are always a sight to behold, you seemingly make something out of nothing. I have even shown pics of your stuff to non-members who were stunned with what you have achieved. Your so keen to share you even post at un-godly hours of the morning !!!!
So keep doing what you are doing, i for one always look forward to updates (even non Indian related ones).
Now....back to what we all enjoy, more pics please?
Steven.

Thanks for that Guy's appreciated!
Back to it
I don't know why but every time I build something there's always one piece
that for some reason I'm happier with than all the rest.
So far on the Indian it's this little switch indicator.
IMG_2100.jpg IMG_2098.jpg
It's made from a washer with a piece of 3mm MDF glued to it and some filler.
IMG_2096.jpg
In the context of the hole bike it's hardly noticeable.
But I really like it maybe it's got something to do with it having a rather art deco look to it.
IMG_2105.jpg
I've sanded the switch face back with 1200 wet & dry.
Over time as it tarnish's I think it will look better.
As you can see I've also shaped the capping ring.
Finishing off the AMP gauge is next.
Cheers
Trev.

In house joke my foot!
If your not going to take this seriously Cowboy, I'm not bringing the Indian around to play anymore.
The timing of screws is a very serious matter!
It's at least as important as what's on the McDonalds special menu this week.
I'm not even going to write cheers at the end of this so there
