Good one Christos, and from one of my favourite woods, too. (Dumpstera recyclus).
I wouldn't fuss about end caps, they are really only necessary to carry fittings like a traditional tail vise or tool tray. If you plan to use something like a regular vise on the end, an end cap would just get in the way. It is, after all, a bench, to hold work & suffer the occasional sling or arrow of misfortune. Use it to make the fine drawing-room pieces....

This is just a general update to how I have been using and working with this bench.
The normal tendency for flat surfaces is to store things on them, which basically means clutter. I often wonder if I should have made a bench with a slopping top? Next time.
Other than for using the bench as a flat surface to place the item I am working on the main use of this bench at present has been for gluing and sanding. I can not say that the weight of the bench has assisted in keeping the item stable during the gluing or sanding process.
I have used the vise an incredible three times, yes that's right since building the bench I am still able to count the number of vise uses on one hand. One of those times was to hold a bolt while I unscrewed a stubborn nut.

Christos, if ever you crack that problem, rush off & patent the solution. There are a lot of us out here in Shedland who would probably even pay money for it, if it could be proven to work. Come to think of it, items amassing on any available flat surface is not unique to sheds!
Well, the front vise on my bench doesn't get worked to death, either, but the tail vise has seen a bit of use! I got tired of wrecking the jaws of my w'working vise with metal bits, so bought myself a cheap & cheerful metal vise. But that necessitated another bench, for convenience, which of course created another flat surface......

Well done Christos I'll second the vote for a tail vice. Mine gets used (yes Brett, got used) about 5 or 6 to 1 in favour of the tail vice.
And Nick I think 'rushing' may be a bit of an exaggeration. In fact I think they could have planted the tree, waited for it to grow, harvested and milled the timber and still had time to make the iBench Ver 1.2 before you got anything done. Those were the droids I was looking for.
