    Hi All

We had a special weekend this weekend, Trev came down to show his Indian. What an absolute pleasure to see the bike (and Trev) in real - not just on the PC.

The photos don't truly indicate the excellence of the work and patience gone into the bike. The detail on the rocker covers, the paint work, I could go on and on.

Treecycle and Nine Fingers also came over to our place to view the bike and have a chat and a bite of afternoon tea. We were looking at the bike out the front. I wonder what passers by thought.

Thanks Trev for coming down - a 7+ hour drive. Truly a memorable experience. So glad you got home safely.

Photo shows - Nine Fingers and Repliconics at the back ans Treecycle and me at the front. Us front guys are shorter than the others

    Best Regards

    Keith

Glad you like the photo mate.
But what say we just tell the truth!.

By the way I'm starting to see a pattern with you "It's all about the fine print" isn't it.

    Good onya mate.

I got back home around 11 o'clock last night.
What a wonderful drive the Great Ocean Road is, but even more impressive the Otway Ranges "Just Breath Taking!".
Or is just that I'm a Country Boy who lives were the tree's struggle to five foot six?.
Either way well worth the extra miles.

On the way back to Mildura after the Beauty of all that, it was all flat roads dodging Roo's and one very startled Emu!.

I'm really glad I took the chance to drive down and meet up with Keith and Cathie.
    Just fantastic people!.
It was great to see the way Keith is going about his work with the series of trains his building.
    Wonderful stuff.
Cathie is just the best and I've got to say makes the best darn cup of coffee!.
And she makes the "Worlds Best" chocolate minties! (in joke had to be there).

Add to all of that John aka Nine Fingers without doubt one of best wooden model makers I'll ever meet!.
And Dallas aka Treecycle who is an absolute pleasure to talk to!
Both coming around made the hole trip even better.

I had a great time and thanks to you all for your company, it really was a good time!.
But now it's back to making a mess with some fibreglass for that clutch cover!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

    Trev,

    Thanks for your post.

Some great news - the World's best chocolate minties are gone. We had some unsuspecting visitors last night (not sure if they will be back)

Look forward to see what you made today,

    Take care

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and made it back safely.
How far along the Great Ocean Road did you go? The Otways or Tasmania, it doesn't get much better than that.
I will have a word to Cathie to see if she can make up a little gift box of chocolate minties and post them off to you now that you have acquired a taste for them

The coastline was beautiful but The Otway Ranges are amazing, honestly three storey high tree ferns "unbelievable".
I don't think people ever really get lost in there, they just don't wont to come out.

I kept heading inland from Lavers Hill along the Cobden Road.
More twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel but I enjoyed every minute of it!.
As for Cathie's chocolate minties they tasted just fine, although I'd have describe the texture as "Confronting".
But I think we'd better drop it or Keith will find himself banned from the shed and we'll just be banned fullstop!.

    Cheers Guys

I've been a bit side tracked since getting home, but I've got the dome that covers the clutch in place.
It still needs a little work I'm really happy with the way it's going!.

I should have it all blended in together and in primer tomorrow.
After that I'll get to work on the backing plate of the cover.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I got a lot further today than I thought I would.
I was hoping to get the cover into primer, but things went so well I've got the first of the top coats on.
Although I was a bit put back by the difference in the colour from one can of paint to the other.

If there's going to be this bigger variance in the colour from one batch to the next.
I'd better go and order in a box so that hopefully their the same shade.
But I'm still very happy with the way the covers coming up.

    Cheers
    Trev.

You might have to buy a batch of random cans in the hope that one will match the crankcase. What a shame they vary so much.

    Thanks Gentlemen.
I was a little put back by the variation in colour, but I'm sure it wont be to bigger problem.
As you say Dallas I may have to text a few cans to make sure of the consistency of the colour.
And at the end of the day the hole engine was always going to get stripped back down and given a finishing coat anyway!.
So for the moment I'll just call the green "Coloured Primer".

Just as a bit of a footnote on the Cover, which has had me a little stumped as to what it should be exactly called.
A bit of research suggests it was none as the Countershaft Drive Chain Case back in the day.

    Cheers Guy's

    Ok,

I've been sort of busy around here with repairs to the house and making gifts, not to mention a couple of videos however, I think I finally got caught up.

Item 1. The color difference in the chain cover doesn't really show up in the picture. Still, you said that the original was just stamped tin. So what was the rest of the cover made from? If one part was cast and another was stamped, the paint could actually look a shade or two different between the different materials just because of how each reacts to the metal.

Item 2. (I hope I don't offend anyone here) But one guy seems happy that all the world famous chocolate minties are gone, and another guy says they have a rather "Confronting" texture. Now either I missed something in the Aussie translations, or these mints caused some unwanted reactions, as is causing certain bottom end things to become too relaxed on a long trip...

Item 3. Here is my entry in the caption in the contest...

"Honey, What have you done with my plastic Ice Cream bowl this time?"

(Is shipping included if I win?)

    Hi Jonnie2,

My wife made the "Minties". They were chocolate brownies - an American invention (or word) - perhaps it's your fault ????? Ha- Ha. (no offence here mate - just a joke)

I reckon they were horrid. Overcooked on outside - undercooked on inside - Cathies blaming the oven.

I don't think they caused Trev any physical problem on his trip but he had never experienced the texture of minties inside a biscuit before.

As I said we gave them to visitors the next day. They arrived late and I think they were hungry. Anyway won't have to experience them again.

    Take Care.

    Regards

    Keith

    G'day Johnnie
Great to hear from you mate hope it's all good in sunny Florida!.

I'll give you that one on the paint if there was no primer there could be a difference of a shade or two.
But not no my bike it will drive me nuts if I don't match the colours!.

I think Keith has pretty much covered the "Chocolate Minties".
Besides I'd like to get invited back one day, and I'm not to sure canning the wife's food is the best way to go about it.

Good effort on the caption comp.
But if you win you'll have to pay your own postage on it!.

    Cheers mate
    Trev.
