Thanks for the photos. They bring back memories for me. On our first trip, we stopped at Jedburgh to acknowledge passing into Scotland and the wind almost blew the door off the campervan.

We are about 20-25mins down the hill away from the fires at Wentworth Falls so all good here.
The photos of the trains were followed up with you in mind though I too wish we'd had long to also see the museum.
    Cheers, Peter

    Default Need some assistance please....

A little bit out of sequence but while we were in Helsinki for the gymnastic festival, the kids took part in a competition to try to win for the community a "airgym" so I need some assistance please for the Boys & Girls Club....

Could you please vote for number 210; they require a valid email address to vote.

Thanks ladies & gents all, If the club win the prize it'll save some fund raising effort on behalf of the volunteer committee and the community will benefit for the new equipment... Much appreciated, Peter

    That's really appreciated, thank you......
It was a warm day when we were there as you can see by the dog just laying in the stream.
Poor local folk were melting and it wasn't even 30deg"C".....
That being said our bus aircon wasn't coping either and had to be serviced when we stopped overnight in Edinburgh....
    cheers, Peter

A few photos from Edinburgh Castle....
It was huge and full of history [we had stayed with the local guide for a walking tour] ...
Check out the size of the cannon balls and the cannon, including no rifling inside the barrel....
Some of the old woodwork was magnificently beautiful....
The only place no photos were allowed was the "crown jewels" and "the memorial hall"....
We say a changing of the guard at both the castle entry and the memorial hall....
The Scott's Guard were way sharper than the English at Windsor Castle....

Default What a treat to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh.....

What a treat to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh.....

I did some reminiscing whilst walking around her decks, taking way too many photos, but here's a few...

I've been told the ships side was cleaned & polished with "car polish" in it's day; don't know if that's a "tall story".
The crews "mess decks" were very similar to the size, space wise to that of the ships I service upon in the RAN.
The living quarters for the Royals was spacious & quite fancy in comparison.
The upper deck gallery was amazing with all it's flash services plus all the silverware.
That silver ships model were magnificent.
And the "roller" stowed in it's own garage on the outer upper deck, wow, I didn't expect that.
The ships engine room was presented way better than any I've seen, so much polish, though I'm sure the Queen never went below decks to inspect it.
I was nearly late for the bus back to the restaurant for tea..

Default We leave Edinburgh through some beautiful country heading to Greta Green

We leave Edinburgh through some beautiful Scottish hills heading to Greta Green......

Some really pretty country side were the photos through a moving bus window don't do it justice....

The bus had to slow on the Scottish country roads as we drove through some thick mist, but alas no photo stop....

Greta Green in Scotland was once the "elopement capital of England" were young lovers from the south could get married, but now-a-days it's more of a tour bus stop for gifts, eats and the necessary pitstop.....

Then it was farewell to Scotland as we headed back south towards Wales....
