Very quite here yesterday the weather was less than stellar and the bird life was staying out of sight.
I did get a Blue Wren.
I'm not sure if he was hiding more from me or the wind, either way he made it hard.

A New Holland Honeyeater was one of the few brave enough to try and hang on in the wind.
IMG_9774.jpg IMG_9791.jpg IMG_9796.jpg
You can tell by the beautiful blue sky these couple of shots of the Yellow Throated Honeyeater weren't taken yesterday!.

It's was New Years Eve.
I don't know the weather was so much nicer last year.
Must be that damn global warming!.

The waves where crashing onto the beach yesterday morning so I thought I'd go up to Binalong Bay and see if I could get some shots.
The Bays only 30 kilometres away but the ocean there was dead flat.
Not what I was hoping for!.
IMG_8323.jpg IMG_8324.jpg IMG_8331.jpg
I was looking around for some birds to photograph with the waves being such a bust, when one of Dave's mates turned up.
IMG_9819.jpg IMG_9827.jpg IMG_9828.jpg
It's getting to the point where I'm starting to think these little Blue Buggers are stalking me.
IMG_9845.jpg IMG_9846.jpg IMG_9850.jpg
Just as I was about to head home a Honeyeater turned up.

No Waves but lots of Wrens it could be worse!

One of the good things about my airy open plan workshop is that during the day visitors sometimes drop in.
A spinebill aka Herbert even went so far as to bring his lunch.
Not that it was to my taste!.
IMG_9891.jpg IMG_9892.jpg IMG_9899.jpg
Even professional singers call in from time to time.
IMG_9910.jpg IMG_9915.jpg IMG_9933.jpg
And then there's just those looking to get out of the wind.
IMG_9919.jpg IMG_9922.jpg IMG_9925.jpg
It all makes for a pleasant distraction!.
Cheers

We live on rural residential block. The bush is only 50 mts from the house. We sometimes sit on the front verandah to have a coffee. The bird life that comes to a water trough is truly amasing and special. The "law" seems to be that only one species at a time are allowed to drink. Each group what ever they may be also comb the shrubs in the garden for tit bits. They are so busy doing their thing. I often wonder how we would be if the birds weren't getting rid of insects. I reckon the insect world could force us humans out with out the birds vigilant careers.
Because of this thread I came across a Canon 1200D SLR combo package. It has a 75-300 mm zoom so I do intend to get organised and see what I can capture. Yesterday the Apostle Birds/Happy Jacks were having a raucase debate in a tree near the house. Dark day (nearly raining) dark grey birds high up in a tree with the light grey cloud behind.....not satisfactory to capture. I will try againJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Do you have the camera slung around you neck at all times while working on the Brough to capture all these images?
How far away are the birds when you shoot them? The clarity is superb with even the spider web showing up in one of them.Dallas

I'm not quite that bad yet that I have the camera with all the time.
Only when I'm going anywhere, staying at home or awake in general do I have it with me!
Every lens has a sweet spot in the case of my sigma it's right on 16 feet.
The optics on it are the best I've had.

Wow, you are getting some cracker shots there Trev. Either you have very co-operative birds, or heaps of patience, great results either way.

All the birds seem to eat well over there. Don't see any skinny ones and they have often got something in their mouth.
Great shot with the Sparrow.

Well my fine feathered friend. I must concur with the masses. You have indeed plucked some good shots there.

Got some good photo's yesterday and some interesting ones.
One of the enjoyable parts of chasing these little birds around is you start to see things you've never noticed before.
Like some of the positions they can get into just to find a feed!.
