Great job the exhaust pipes are coming along great and hats off to you for being inventive to bend them.
As for blueing the pipes if you want to look at THIS that I recently turned and coloured and want to know how I will run through it with you

Beautiful bit of turning there mate!.
That paint effect you've got is spot on for the blueing on an exhaust.
Whether or not the exhaust on the Brough gets blued, I'll definitely be hounding you about the way it's done.
Fantastic stuff thanks.
Cheers

Well that's the most complicated thing it's ever been my pleasure to make.
After a long drawn out process of pretty much having no idea of what I was doing, I've finally got something that looks Kinda Sorta Right!.
I haven't finished shaping the fins yet, but it's within the ball park.
IMG_9759.JPG IMG_9760.jpg
Honestly there's more fins on this engine than you'd find in a Chinese Soup Kitchen.
Given another day they should be on the mark.
Then I'll get back to working on the rocker arms.
I found some more steel rod to use as the second set of pushrods.
Or just thinking about it I may have a go at the Magneto.
It will be one or the other unless it's something else!.
But at least that should be the end of the (Please insert any inappropriate word you think would work best) Fins!.
Cheers

"ASOLUTELY"
Like I said it's kinda sorta finished.
Unless of course I change, modify, redo, rebuild, refurbish, rehash or further Duck Fudge it in any other manner whatsoever.
But even if it's not finished it is closer to being finished than it is to being started.
So you can rest easy Charlie Boy the part is probably more than likely almost finished!
"Kinda"

I'll tell ya what fletty if you happen to see any old small brass gas fittings or little nuts and bolts like from old power points or clocks that would be kool.
But only old stuff with slotted heads.
No horrid Phillips head stuff.
It will be interesting how much that Indian sign goes for.

"Ha Ha" it is to laugh!.
I made a start on the Magneto today.
But it didn't take long before I realized the timing chain cover needed to be shortened.
As it was the magneto was going to be to forward of the exhaust pipe.
Which would have put it in the way of the front wheel when the frames built.
So I made some modifications and it's looking a lot more the go.

I found some good pictures of a Lucas magneto that's the right style and age to have been fitted to the bike.

So I'll see if I can get something looking like it.

Had great fun over the weekend working on the Magneto for the Brough.
Lots of odd little shapes combined to form an overall appearance.
Just the sort of thing I really enjoy making.
IMG_9769.JPG IMG_9770.JPG
The first two photo's show the front panel of the Magneto.
Laminating the pieces together to build up the basic shape is always the first step.
IMG_9772.JPG IMG_9778.JPG
The third photo shows the back of Magneto with all of it's individual pieces (10 in all) glued together and blended with filler.
The next shots just a bit of fun with the part after being sprayed in primer drying in front of the fire.
IMG_9784.JPG IMG_9789.JPG
The front panel needed a tube to run down the left side of the points cover.
So that's another pen I've got with no lid!.
IMG_9791.jpg IMG_9792.jpg
It doesn't matter how much I do this stuff it always surprises me how a coat of primer changes everything.
