I also have the battery pack. Prefer a weightier camera as in windy conditions I feel it's steadier. I wonder what a 2 x converter will do to get to 600 mm. I will loose light but wondering about quality. Only Sigma I have is a 10-20 macro and just love that one but the birds won't let me come that close. I might just investigate a 2 x converter as I can't afford another lens and hate to much luggage. Will post some photo's soon. Bit busy at the moment to go through them and find the best ones and say that these are my run of the mill. Ha ha.
RogWith kind regards and may the wood chips fly

I've used converters in the past and their not something I recommend.
A X2 converter will get you to the focal length your after, but it will always be at the expense of image quality.
Cheers mate.
It was another of those dim overcast winters days here.
But I got some shots of a Scarlet Robin and Blue Boy that made the day a little brighter!.

After translation, does this mean you will have a little bird perched on your hat, a bit like the yellow chickens we had on our Easter eggs?
Alan...
BTW, thanks for the fabulous pics Trev. I don't have any small birds around my yard, the Noisy Minors chase just about everything away, except for the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos', Ravens and Magpies.

We had a few Blue Wrens around us while we were at Peterborough, but too fast for me to get a good shot of them. Saying that though, my wife said one actually came inside the caravan and had a look around. Fast but curious.

Your very much right about the Blue Wrens.
They seem to be very quick to adjust to people being around.
I've got a lot of out of focus photos of the Wren I call Blue Boy, simply because his just to close.
While I'm walking around the place looking for shots he'll fly in and land near my feet, after anything I've disturbed in the grass.
Sorry about the no show yesterday, there just wasn't much around.
I thought I'd have a great day, the weather was not to bad and the light a little more than OK.
But nothing much to take a snap of!.
Never mind yesterday was better and I got a few shots.

I was really happy to get a shot of the Tassie Thornbill (the little fellow in the centre on the bottom row) at this time of year these guy's are "Missiles".

I was out at Pyengana yesterday having a look around.
Beautiful country side to say the least!.
I even took a stroll though a rainforest (note to self next time take a tripod) it was truly something else.
And surprise surprise I got through the day without taking a photo of a bird!.

There's a ton of brilliant old machinery laying out in paddocks all over the place.

The locals where telling me story's of an old 60 foot high trestle bridge back up in the hills.
Next time I'm out this way I'll be after it!.
Cheers

I thought you had been cured but I see you have had a relapse without even knowing (what's that in the last photo on the exhaust?)
Great shots of the countryside. I understand what you mean about the tripod, exactly the problem I had when we went into the rainforest. Until you go to take a photo you don't realise just how dim the light is in there.Dallas

Your right mate.
I was surprised at just how dark it was in there.
Still I'll be having another crack at it armed with a little more knowledge!.
Cheers
Trev.
P.S I couldn't believe my luck when the Robin landed on the exhaust of the tractor.
I was starting to get the shakes!.
