And it is!
You don't need to live down here long to realise a wood heater is a must!.
I feel sorry for those folks that don't have one when the power goes out!.
Not a whole lot around yesterday but I had good fun getting a few snaps of a Robin in the pond.
And have a look at the way the Kookaburra is sitting on the post!.

Now I'll go and get that fire started and warm my boots up for a morning stroll!.

Trev,
No need to "stick the boots in" the gas fitter is on the way
The kookaburra looks like he needs boots to keep his feet warm.
Top photos as per normal

It was a glorious day yesterday I'd imagine as good as it gets around this time of year.
I didn't get a lot of shots but I really like the two of the Silver Eye hiding in the bush.
Like the Tassie Thornbill's their hard to get a photo of at the minute because they just wont stay still.

I haven't needed to start the fire yet, so fingers crossed on a nice day.

Trev,
Love the photos.
By the way - "there now be heat in the household" typical that it is warming up a bit weather wise

I had good fun chasing the Eastern Spinebill's around the place yesterday.
The New Holland Honeyeater that had been running them out of the tree must of had a better offer for the day.

I got lucky and actually managed to get a few frames of a Tassie Thornbill.

At the moment these little guy's are wicked quick and wont sit still!.

Hi Trev, my wife and I are spending a week in Tassie and I was wondering if you could give me some clues on some good locations for seascape photography and landscapes in general. We are flying in tomorrow and will be based at a place called Penna, and I've already booked a little studio apartment at Coles Bay for 3 nights.
I have a list of some places recommended on a travel site, and I was wondering if would care to comment:
Cataract Gorge
Dove Lake Circuit
Port Arthur Historic Site
Wineglass Bay
Cradle Mountain
The Tench (Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site)
The Wall In The Wilderness (Derwent Bridge)
Battery Point
Tahune Forest Airwalk
Salamanca Market
Russell Falls
St. Columba Waterfall
Richmond Bridge
Bay Of Fires
Freycenet Natnl Park
Obviously some of these sites are close to Coles Bay and we will be visiting them.
TIA

Everything on the list is great in one way or another.
If you come up to the Bay of Fires I would strongly suggest getting all the way up to Eddystone Point "It's Spectacular".
Cradle Mountain is just beautiful if not cold but it's so worth seeing.
The Salamanca Market is a great day out as well.
Wineglass Bay is a cracker.
Port Arthur is very touristy.
Any of the main waterfalls in Tassie are well worth a visit.
I best advice I could give is: your not going to see all Tassie has to offer in a week.
So your better off to take your time and fully enjoy the places you do visit.
Instead of rushing from one to the other!.
And when it comes to photography where ever you are you'll be hard pressed to put the camera down.
Hope that helps a little.
Cheers

Thanks Trev, I think we'll make it up as we go along. Take our time and probably just do the east coast and in maybe as far as Campbell town and down through Ross. Get some photos of the bridges there.

That sounds like the way to go John.
If you go through Campbell Town there's a fantastic old book shop down beside the bridge.
The Antique shop in the main street is great as well, and there's lots of nice little cafes!.
The Richmond Bridge and the town it's self are wonderful for photo's.
By the time you've finished you'll have a callus on your shutter finger mate!.
The weather was less than stellar yesterday I hardly even saw a bird.
The wind was just ripping across the hill.
So here's some from the other day.
