Does anyone know if the wood vendors such as Tasmanian Timbers bring fresh/additional stock each day or is it just what they brought on Friday?
I ask because i was there Friday and bought a bit of timber but am tempted to go back tomorrow if there are likely to be new selections available.

I was not going to the show today in the original plan but I finished up going anyway. We were very light-on for volunteers for the show stand so I helped out a bit when it was busy. I will be going again tomorrow.
Today I found a nice set if chisels displayed here on a nice piece of Huon pine I bagged yesterday about an hour before the show opened to the public. One of the joys of being a forum stand volunteer!

Well done to the volunteers on the forum stand at the wood show....
Well done to the volunteers on the forum stand at the wood show, especially Matt & Doug for organizing the rooster....
I hope all the volunteers enjoyed the 3 days of the show as well as the comradery of the forum stand....
Let's hope the efforts being good positive results of more forum members who actively get involved with the "Get Togethers" and forum events while helping others on the forum....
Did Matt's bribery and trading pay off for the volunteers??
What "goodies" did folk secure from the show??
Cheers, Peter

I second that crowie! !
With the lovely melbourne weather I couldn't work on friday so managed last minute to attend the show. After making sure I nabbed a couple of pieces of timber before all the good stuff was gone, I wandered straight to the forum stand. Simplicity and Doug3030 's faces were behind the desks, with broad welcoming smiles. After a quick handshake (as we had previously met on occasions)I had a chance to meet paige and kuffy. I really enjoy putting faces to the names on the forum, and a chance for more tall tales.
I grabbed a quick bite to eat (and some sweets from Sally/matt....boy they can bake!!) And then I noticed tiger was manning the station. Another name to face I could now connect to, so I sat around chatting to him for a bit, and trying to entice passers by to join the forum.
I was a bit surprised that quite a few people had not heard of the forum. One fellow in particular caught my interest. He was into scroll sawing (I know NOTHING about this craft) and he showed me some of his works.
Hopefully my spell worked and he finds his way on here as his work was incredible, and hopefully he could find inspiration on here talking to other scrollers.
Anyways, a massive thanks to matt, Doug, Neil and impressive exhibitions for providing a great stand (photos behind the stand and scrolling shots on a screen in front) for everyone to enjoy. It really was the highlight to my show.
I picked up some huon, redgum, qld maple and a bit of sandpaper, so nothing really photo worthy yet. The huon is for a mantlepiece at my folks place, and maple for a toybox for number 1 son (Christmas, so i better get started)As soon as the timbers make their way into projects, I'll show you all in a wip post.
Cheers

After volunteering on the stand a few times I was disappointed not to be able to assist this year.
SHMBO has just undergone a total knee replacement and is getting around on crutches. Unfortunately
I am required to learn how to wash dishes, cook meals, turn on the washing machine and a million
other duties until she is well enough to chop the wood, mow the lawns etc.
My doctor says I am doing well although near exhaustion and in need of a life support machine.
To the volunteers - many thanks - well done.

Well its all over now in Melbourne for 2016.
In my capacity as official roster compiler, I would like to thank the volunteer "day cordinators", Matt and Pagie.
Thanks also to the members who volunteered to go on the roster to man the stand, Pagie (backing up from his sterling effort as day coordinator for Sunday), Kuffy, Tiger, David Mitchell, Jutonething, Egress, Nifty Nev, Chesand, CAG, Geof Ford, Oldgreybeard and Bohdan.
Also thanks to Gabriel for lending us a hand when he turned up unexpectedly and unrostered ot lend a hand when we were busy. Many of those on the roster also went above and beyond to help out when we were busy or had gaps in the roster. There may be others who helped out when we were busy that I do not know about.
An honourable mention goes to Crowie for his encouragement and support throughout this thread in helping us get the members to help out. Lets not forget Neil (ubeaut) and Pauline and the show organizers for their support
It was good we got as much support as we did considering the clash with Phillip Island and others like Dave TTC and Alan at Wallan who have their own personal challenges going on right now. Others may have personal challenges that I do not know about.
Anyway, my final tool purchase was a couple of auriou rasps, which like my chisels are displayed here on the nice Huon pine board I scored an hour before the show opened. Of course I only got the opportunity to get this beautiful piece of timber because I got in early as a volunteer on the forum stand.

A great big thank you to all who helped out on the stand throughout the show and also to Liz, Rick, Stephan and Vanessa at Impressive Exhibitions for their support of the forums.
Well done everyone.
Pauline and I were in on Thursday and setup the stand then off to DUTA then back in again to pack up on Sunday arvo. The pack up was dead easy thanks to the help of those who were on the last shift.
I got there around 1:45 pm and went round taking pictures which I will put on here tomorrow if I get a chance. I was surprised to see the place was still buzzing with people and and exhibitors still doing business, watching demo's, etc. at 3:00pm when the past shows would have been devoid of people long before that time. I spoke to a number of exhibitors who all had smiles on their faces and said they had a terrific show with best sales for a long time, way better than Brisbane and Sydney.
That's the most important and encouraging part of the show for exhibitors.
Cheers and thank you all again - Neil
PS Down Under Turn Around's 20th Anniversary went really well. There were 67 lathes running throughout the 3 days and around 120 people, all enjoying their special weekend and their hobby. Some even managed to make it into the T&WWW Show late Sunday arvo as I did.KEEP A LID ON THE GARBAGE... Report spam, scams, and inappropriate posts, PMs and Blogs.
