Very nice. I love looking at your photos even if I dont comment much - you capture the birds character more then just the look.

Are all these birds occuring in your yard? If so you are very lucky. Here in our suburb in NW Sydney there are no small birds left. A few years back a spinebill stopped briefly in a tree in our back yard and its the only small bird I can remember seeing here in two decades. The reason is the noisy miners - too aggresive towards almost every other species.

BTW, apologies if anyone else has pointed it out already, but 'Bonnie' is in fact a juvenile male.

    cheers

Glad you like the shots mate.
The yard is six acres of nature bushland, I'm very lucky!.
    Whoops Bonnie is Barney!.
Never mind it's a modern world and they make a cute couple either way!.

Hope your right back into it with your photography.
I really enjoy seeing your work!.

    Cheers mate

Default A "crow's" nest in the tree in my backyard....

    G'Day Trev,
I wish I had something like your 600mm zoom lens over my 200mm lens as we have a "crow's" nest in the tree in my backyard some 100ft up....
All the littler birds have disappeared except for a few King Parrots & Mountain Lorikeet....first time we've ever seen a nest in the tree and the crow's are an oddity around here.
    Cheers, Peter

OK as a mate I'll leave the wise cracks out.
But don't be surprised if others ruffle your feathers over it!.
    It's just all to good!!!!.

You've done a fine job with the two hundred Peter, over a range of around a hundred feet.
It looks like you should be able to get some interesting shots in the next few months.

I'm a bit lucky with the 600 I'll admit, it can make a hacker look half decent sometimes.

Here's a shot I took at Malmsbury on the way home from Mildura the other day.
It's at about the 100 foot mark although it has been cropped a bit.

It's not dead sharp by any means, but the 600 does get you in the ballpark.

Having said that I'm dead set jealous of you, I reckon over the next few months your going to get some great photo's mate!.

    Cheers

Thanks for that Peter appreciated mate.
Although I think the term describes well my method of "Point and Shoot, Hit and Miss".
Still I really enjoy my time walking around the place seeing what I can get a shot of!.

Hopefully this isn't the last photo of Clyde!.

    IMG_0461.JPG

Just after I'd taken the photo of Clyde I went and sat down near the back door.
I noticed a large bird land on branch about 250 feet or so way.
Of cause I tried to get a shot of him, at that range I know the photo wouldn't be to sharp.
But at least I'd know what it was.
As soon as I got some focus it was plain to see it was a Hawk.
By the time I'd taken two frames the hawk was on the move.
Straight at Clyde like a tracer bullet.

    IMG_0469.jpg IMG_0470.JPG

The last I saw of Clyde he was flying for all he was worth over the roof of the house.
The Hawk was in hot pursuit and closing fast!.

I hope my little Blue mate made it!.

I haven't seen him since, but hopefully he'll be around in the morning!.
