Some of the breaking systems on the Bellarine Railway also suck as they use a vacuum. Others also use air with a lot of puff (compressed)! Good to see your carriage uses the Westinghouse Compressed air automatic system.

    Hi All,

I reckon I have finished the subframe of the carriage now. Made up some airline couplings out of aluminium. Added the main feed line to the air reservoir and line support brackets. I have connected up the main air supply to the slack adjuster - although it is not easy to see (on the inner side of the adjuster). I have made up linkage brackets to connect the slack adjuster to the linkages that connect to each bogie. These linkages also have bracket supports from the carriage chasis.

I will now start to re-assemble the carriage and get all my side timber work off the ground - We are supposed to have 100k/h winds and torrential rain tonight. Hopefully the shed won't leak

    Regards

    Keith

I will see what I can do with some photos Peter. That is old stuff - before I retired. It's only a diorama. Although the tram could run down the "main street"

    Hi All,

Here you are Peter. I had to go through some of my old memory sticks to find the photos. It was when I was working on G Scale loco layouts. This is just along one wall. My intention was to do the whole shed with a layout, but got onto making the bigger stuff and this has now gone by the wayside. It's all pretty much covered in dust although Josh (grandson) does push cars, trucks etc along the tracks.

    Regards

    Keith

    Default Now that's excellent Keith...

Now that's excellent Keith...Your craftsmanship has many levels and a whole bucket of talent sir.....THANK YOU!!! Cheers, Peter

I note "Cathie's Cake Shoppe" is next door to the Hardware Store with the bank on the other side,
so as you withdrew your money for the hardware shop you spotted a pretty girl who could bake and that was just the beginning of the story.....

I like the diorama, but what is the red cylinder on its side in front of the bank?

I see you are working in front of the 'Maintenance Depot', not sure if that is accidental or just well placed.

Good pickup Kevin - That's an old English letterbox on its side - must be why the Firetruck is there

    Hi All,

I have been working on the other wall of my Royal Carriage Sitting Room that enters into the bedroom. I have used the same wallpaper on bth walls and will use this paper eventually on the inner carriage walls of this room.
I have made up a side table. I have made it out of oak and the legs are also oak which I turned up on the wood lathe. I am using some really small chisels when turning up these smaller components - they are a leftover from when I had - dare I say it - a GMC wood lathe but come in handy.
Because all Royals seem to love dogs - I have printed off and framed a 1901 painting by Englishman Thomas Blinks. It is titled "An English Setter and an Irish Setter".
I have trialed my carpet covering and I think the entire carriage will have a Royal Blue carpet (as shown) I will probably have different colour rugs situated throughout the carriage.
The photos show both sides of the Sitting Room with the carpet. Won't do the skirting boards until I have done the interior of the carriage walls.

The next task will be the Entry Room main partition. This will have the bar. This really should allow some scope for some really good detail.

    Regards

    Keith

If we didn't know it was a model by a master craftsman a casual look would think it's the real thing....TOP JOB Keith...cheers, Peter

The real deal or a well decorated, over the top doll's house on wheels!
Like your work. Royal blue carpet fits in well.

What does "Queen Cathie" think of the palace on wheels?

    Hi All,

For the last week I have been working on the Reception area and bar.

I did the back wall in red leather. The bar is made from pine. All the panelling is made from icy pole sticks. They sand up OK to give a bit of woodgrain. The timber is stained in mahogany and then coated in clear gloss. The benchtop is a sample marble laminate I got from Bunnings.
The kickbar is 4mm mild steel primed and then painted in Super Gold. The back mirror I cut to size from a kids mirror set - it is actually glass and not plastic. The bar shelf is cut from 2mm glass.
Made up some extra bottles on the wood lathe. I like the square white one - plus a bottle of "Chianti" I think I will make up some bar stools before getting into the main dining / conference room.

Once all the basic walls are done - still a while off - I can then get into main room furnishing, furniture and fittings detail.

    Regards

    Keith

Once again, I am gobsmacked! The whole concept is stunning.
I have lost all sense of scale though Keith. Could you put your trusty beer can into the picture for us?
I honestly can't tell IF it will sit on the bar or fill the room!
