It's a bit quiet down here with the camera at the moment, lots of rain coming through.
You can sit out the back and pretty much watch the grass grow in front of your eyes!.
The mowers going to get a workout shortly that's for sure.

Learning as you go!.
With all the amazingly small flower around the place at the moment I get caught out with having the wrong lens on the camera.
I found a great little flower yesterday but I only had the 600 at the time, you can get a shot but it's not the best for the job.
I took a couple of frames of it and thought I'd come back later with a smaller lens.

Of cause when I went back later I couldn't fined it again!.

It's probably a weed for all I know, although if it is it's beautiful.
The thing I've learned is to carry a couple of sticks with some red wool tied on them.
They make simple but great markers so you can find things again!.

Still something's went well and I got a couple of nice shots of Bonnie and Clyde.

When I was taking the photo of the last flower I spotted this guy on some bracken fern next to it.

I've no idea what kind of Beatle it is, but his a shiny fellow.

Plants number 3 is interesting. I've never seen it before.

One of the acacia battles I think - Peltoschema. The one common around here is all green, but I think I've seen that one too.

Or it could be Calomela, another of the leaf beetle genera that also loves acacia.

Going for a stroll this morning I nearly stepped on a Blotched Blue Tongue Lizard.
He was down the slope in the long grass just in front of the jungle.

Not a lot doing with the camera over the last few days.
I've gotten a little side tracked with a couple of hundred handplanes from the storage locker.
Nice big shed I've got, but no shelves go figure!.
I may need to address that!.

But here's a few shots I did get in.

I'm not to keen on the barbed wire on the fence down by the road, for either wildlife or livestock.
I've seen far to much of the damage that hideous stuff can cause in my time.
Luckily my neighbour who has the horses has much better fencing!.

Still lots of work in the shed so not much in the way of photos.

At the moment the Swallows are building there nests under the carport next to the shed.
So I can't leave the shed door open or they fly in and out all day.

On a bit of a photographic side note:
I'm really happy with this setup.

Charlie was nice enough to give me his old 500mm he had from back in the day.
The centre section just in front of the aperture ring was flogged out and coming apart.
So I put a brass shim in it and replaced the grubscrews with some slightly oversized ones.

Down at the local market on the weekend I found an old Praktica LTL from the early 70's that the lens fits.
The camera only cost 5 bucks and it's a goer!.

Everything seems to be working so when I get my enlarger out of the storage locker I'll put a roll of B/W through it just for giggles!.

Speaking of "Giggles" Charlie was telling me he used the lens back in the 70's to photograph Surfing.
I've got an image in my head of him driving around in a combi with a couple of boards on the roof and a peace sign on the front.
Chasing the waves, the shots and the chicks!.

Not quite the sedate Charlie Boy I've come to know!.

Ah - back to the 70's - I will see if I can get some early photos

Torquay to Coolangatta - great times - still got a few boards - but the wetsuits won't fit

Great work on the lens Trev. Looks better than when I bought it new. Really good to know it's gone to a loving home
