Well either a fool is easily parted with his money(me).
Or the boy did good !!
Found this today at Bunnings while using one of there tap measures.
Pictures really tell the whole story
And I'm away from creative zone and properly won't be there till after Xmas.
But for just under $40au
I took a risk.
It's cast(iron I think)
Jaws are cushioned ball joint is tight but adjustable.
Once I get to give a good workout I write more.
Cheers Matt

Matt
That looks pretty good and as though it will do just the job. I have to go to Toowoomba on Friday so I may call in at Bunnies to have a close up look.
I must get the bushie's version I showed to you painted so I can present it here. Trouble is, it's in the queue and there are some must-do jobs ahead of it.Bushmiller;

Interesting find Matt. I've not seen one of these before.
I note that Bunnings state they are made of cast iron.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/stanley-...-vice_p5860190
However, Amazon have the same vice and say they are made from cast aluminium.

I guess a magnet will answer that question soon enough.
Some of the Amazon reviews would indicate that it is not a good idea to over tighten the clamps.

You may be right and if you recall the other specific saw handle vice, it was red. It did get done faster, but the handles don't seem to be finished any quicker.
I called in at Bunnies this afternoon on the way home and had a look at the vice. The bloke in the tool store did not know anything about it or if he even had one, but he pointed me in the direction of the vices and I easily found it. I'm good like that with vices.
The black metal bits are indeed steel, but the yellow bits are not magnetic so I have to presume aluminium. The whole device did not seem to have enough weight to be stainless steel. This could be the origin of comments warning about over tightening.
Back to the fast car bit for a moment: Red in nature is indicative of danger (mainly plants) and the estrous cycle (animals). In homo sapiens therefore the red car, being an extention of the male's personality, is indicative of his readiness to please a female. However in the case of Ferrari, it may be so the NRMA/RACQ can spot you on the side of the road more easily during the day. No self respecting Ferrari driver is going to go out after dark.
Now before council for the defense objects, let me point out that aforementioned council was the one that brung up this subject. Having introduced it, I think the adjudicators have to run with it.
