Like you I have had some bad experiences with files ( I've had other bad experiences too, but I don't think this is quite the time or place to go into those ). Generally I am fortunate as I have purchased primarily new old stock files (NOS), although this has come at an elevated cost with most of them coming from the US. Also it takes a leap of faith as frequently I have been at the mercy of the description. On occasions I have been caught out, but most times it has been good. Fortunately I have worked out the ethical sellers.
One of the most amusing purchases has been some old stock Wiltshire files, made in Australia, shipped to the US and then brought back here by me. I have not mentioned this to Leanne or I would have received a chorous of the "carbon footprint" ( the tune, and tone, is bad enough just one way from China) so this information should just remain between the two of us .
