    Thanks guys

The paintwork will be a big challenge. Everything will need to be dismantled. Originally I was going to spray paint when I get to that point, but have done a bit of research and spray painting only came to vogue about the 1880's. This loco must have been hand painted in the 1870's. (But undoubtedly a lead based paint which would give a better sheen than nowadays) That is what I will be doing. I will be using "Brunswick Green" as my colour - not lead based of course but acrylic. (as stated in a previous post).

Also I am not confident spray painting - don't have the skills - will practice after this model and maybe on my next loco.

The Stirling on show in the Museum has beautiful shine to it but I think it must have been spray painted

Anyway I will do my best when the time for painting comes around.

I am really happy with it anyway

    Regards

    Keith

    Default GNR Stirling Locomotive

To achieve high flow coefficient, seek guidance from the people at FLOODS. They have additives that can make any formulation of (brushed on) paint flow like water and finish like glass

Here you go mate - for what it's worth

Need to wear a hat to hide my lack of hair - (I'm envious of Crowie and Treecycle - they have plenty to even share around)

But the focus is my loco

Great to see you with one of your fleet of engines.
I see your hand is on the tender behind (the engine) .

Looks good in undercoat but will look better in Brunswick Green.
Why spray paint? The larger the item the quicker it can be painted. For a one off small item it may not be worth the time and effort to set up, mask and clean up for spray painting. However on a large item it becomes a more time/cost benefit.

Thumbs up Thanks for the photo!!!

I hit the great photo link that had no photo, but the next one made up for it with a great one.
You never really get the feel for size till you get behind them, and it is big, which is great for making them great details you love to make.
I nearly always shrink my builds to save space the wife's about to kick me and my models out of the house, but because of that I always have trouble getting in the small details, bigger is better for sure!!!.

Thanks for your comments - Size is an issue for storage of the models. We are lucky. We have a large Sun room that we put on at the side of the house.
It's 7.5 metres by 3.5 metres. It doubles as our dogs sleeping quarters (he's only a chihuhua - but thinks he's a rottweiller). Cathie is great - allowing me to build storage display areas for my locos.
I built a 1/3rd scale T Model Ford ute years ago that is still in this room. Embarrassed by it - it has to go (for more locos).
A tip - get your wife into quilting and get her engrossed in it - you will have no more issues
    Thanks for your post

    Best Regards

    )))))

Is the T model going just to make room, or is it evidence of an earlier skills set?

I was thinking you could donate it to the Fox Car Collection or the lads opposite there at Kangan TAFE.

It's too embarrassing Steve - Don't want people to see stuff this from years ago

Had the Anglesea Mens Shed this morning to look at my locos. They liked my stuff - which was good.

Here a shot of them in front of some of my locos. They didn't realise the size of them.

Wonderful to see. Lovely "Lion" there. The lads would've really enjoyed calling over.
